View Full Version : How do you handle an interior doorway?

If an intruder breaks into my home at night, chances are he will be in my Great Room (living room, den, kitchen, dinning room, combination). It has the front door, door to the garage, and door to the patio, as well as a number of windows. There is an open doorway (no door) between the Great Room and a short hallway leading to my bedroom. If I were to be coming out of the bedroom to check on noises heard in the Great Room, what is the best tactic to use in coming through that open doorway?

Maybe someone with some tactical training could answer?

Thanks!

I don't know who else is in your house, but if it's just the one occupied bedroom, I think I'd consider closed-circuit camera and the use of that hallway to your advantage-which is to say, call the cops, stay where you are with your weapon aimed down the short hallway and let the intruder(s) come to you.

Disclaimer: I have no training in tactics or anything of that sort, this is just what seems to me to make sense. Modify according to your circumstances and with any kind of good luck, you'll never need to use this advice anyway.

Blessings,
