Regarding the AK-47 Review on the home page. I have had the apportunity to fire the AK-47 as well as the MAC 90 (Chinese version). While the AK wasn't what I would call a very accurate weapon, the MAC 90 is quite a different weapon all together. I fired at a 25 yd target with open sights using Wolf Ammo and managed a 50 cent group. My Mac has a chrome barrel and is definately accurate. But then again, who needs accuracy with an AK 47 or MAC 90. I keep mine locked in a gun safe and use a Glock .45 and a 20 ga. shutgun for immediate protection. If I can't do the job with them then it's just a moot point
A relative that just came back from Iraq said they crushed thousands of confiscated AK's with tanks. He even has pics of it. Broke my heart. :(

They are fun to shoot and it is a shame that they are a lot cheaper than an AR style ...
That being said, they are great to have in an emergency. I would want someone of sound character in the neighborhood having one or two.
I ran into some folks at our gun club and they shoot them every month and they work great in the short courses they run.
thanks for your comments.....They are fun

They are indeed fun to shoot. I built mine, having bought almost all the parts in a "kit" on gunbroker.com. I had to buy a receiver (Fed. law requires an import like that to be torch-cut), a semi-auto trigger group, a gas piston, and my mags and ammo all separately. It's a fun build and it's not a bad shooter, but I'm saving ammo now so I've not recently been to the range with it. One of these days, I want to get outside somewhere and do the "bump fire" thing to shoot simulated-full-auto, too.
Blessings,

Well Bill, you don't really need a machine gun. They'll fire as fast as you can fan the trigger and holding one on target at that rate of fire is considerably challenging. Make sure you've got a very tall backdrop. An AR15 is considerably easier to hold on target than an AK or Mac 90. The 7.62x39 round is larger and packs a bigger punch and has the recoil to back it up.

That's both my understanding and my plan, Outlaw. You're right, I don't need a machine gun, and truly, I could just rent one at my local range, but I want to do the "rock-n-roll" thing with the one I built. Safety first. Once that's handled and ensured, then we move on to "fun". :)

the ak-47 and mac 90 are great weapons, the ak is by far very durable and forgiving, not to mention accurate . But.... I will stick by my ar-15 sp1, never in thousands of rounds have I had it jam, (just keep it clean}. Its a great deer and hog hunting rifle, not to mention the fact that it is short and easy to pull down on target... the down fall is the 1 in 10 twist on long range.. but the 30 rd mag makes up for it.
