What made you choose the guns that you have.....
For caliber was it cost of the round for the range, or the stoping power, or just the BOOOOOOOOOM followed by the other people at the range saying i don't know what that is but it is cool, etc.....
For the brand was it it's reliability, low cost, high cost, the brand name, etc ..........
For the model was it the way it felt in your hand, cause your buddy has one, etc .....
What was it that made you purchase the weapon?
For me, I chose the springfield XD .45 4'' service model. The reason i chose this weapon, was for it's, additional saftey's stoping power, the cost and package that it came with in addition to the life time warrenty.
It is the same cost as a glock and with it's safty features, i felt better buying it for my first pistol.
Come to find out that the local gun club is now selling 20 SAXD's to every 1 glock, and they sport both colors!

i chose my beretta m9 military issue for several reasons, listed in no particular order of importance:
1. if its good enough to the military, its good enough for me
2. safety features, DA/SA and manual thumb safety
3. reliability. over 2,000 rounds through it since the beginning of the year and no FTF or FTE, and im feeding it pretty crappy ammo
4. cheap ammo. i can buy a hundred white box winchester 9mm rounds at wally world for 15 dollars
5. my hands are large, and so is this gun, so it fits nicely
6. last but not least, it is one sexy work of art, no doubt about it.

Always loved the 1911.
Prefer the diameter of the .45 and the heavier payload.
My dealer handed me a Para and bade me try the trigger.

For me, I wanted a pistol that I could actually hit something with. I went to several indoor ranges and rented pistols to try. I finally wound up with a Kimber in my hand. I couldn't believe how well I shot with it. I was at least 50% better with the Kimber that with the other pistols I had been shooting. I remember laughing and shooting, and laughing, and shooting some more. I just couldn't miss! So, from there it was just a matter of buying the gun.

For me it was reliability, conealability, and stopping power. I may have made an error because I don't shoot my glock 23 very well but that will get better with time. But I baught a new taurus PT 1911 yesterday. I doubt I will carry it very often though. But I am excited about getting it to the range Wednesday. Stay tuned I'll probably write review on it once I've put some rounds through it.
I am comfortable with my revolvers. I don't like autos, never did. I've got a 1911 that I can't get used to, so I'm holding it for a trade.
Not the most modern, but they work every time.

I prefer the Glocks. They have a lot of hype along with them but I also seem to hit anything I aim at with them. I qualified for CCW with a G19 and held about a 4.5 inch pattern from 7 yards out to 25 yards with it. All in center mass. Can't complain about that. I carry either a Sig 232 or CZ83 in .380 in my fanny pack. Mostly because of the weight and concealability. They have sufficient stopping power up close and are easily handled and very reliable. If I knew I was gonna be in hostile territory I would upgrade to my G21. Sometimes bigger is better :)
