Hi everyone,

All in all, we have reason to be very proud. Brady was only able to stick us for 8 points.

We got two because gun dealers have to have a state license as well as an FFL.

We got two because, according to them, we don't have a "shoot first in public" law: I can only guess they mean that they don't think Castle Doctrine applies outside the home, but regardless, they gave us two points for it.

The hardest part was the other 4 points, though. Had SB 66 passed this session (it didn't even get heard in committee), it would have saved us two points for "Employers not forced to allow guns on premises", and had SB 65, 158, or 356 passed, we would not have gotten the two points for "Colleges not forced to allow guns on campus."

I think I'll do some research and find out what the "shoot first" law is. If it IS "Castle Doctrine" and it applies outside the home as I suspect it might, we'll just see if we can't appeal those two points and get a better rating, because as I read it, OK and KY are not exactly hotbeds of crime, while NJ and CA are, and I want our numbers to be as close to that end of the scale as we can get it.

Blessings,
B

Actually, a lot of the info on the Brady website, especially with regard to the concealed carry laws of the different states, is badly in need of updating, including its declaration that Indiana does not have a "Shoot First" law, which in fact it does.

And yes, what the Bradys call "Shoot First" is actually the Stand Your Ground/Castle Doctrine law.

Lefties like the Brady bunch think they're being cute, calling the Castle Doctrine "Shoot First." They are so stupid that they don't even realize what idiots they make themselves out to be. I mean, who in his right mind would plan ahead to be the guy who shot second in a gunfight? Sometimes I think I was born into a world overrun by fools.

George, I think what they mean is that if you argue with someone, rather than try to resolve your differences amicably and in a civilized manner, they think that we'll all "shoot first an' ask kwechunz later" and that the state law covering Castle Doctrine makes that act legal.

They could not be further from the truth, and of course, as always, they're lying--has anyone else noticed Paul Helmke's resemblence to Joe Isuzu?- but the truth is unimportant so long as we get all the guns away from those people.

The simple proof that the Brady Bunch are liars as to how awful we and our guns are is found in the fact that they are still exchanging CO2 and oxygen; if we were even close to what they paint us to be, wouldn't all of them be riddled with bullets?

Blessings,
