Indeed, Stubob. It's something we should never forget. They gave us gifts we can never repay.

If only those of us at home would fight half as hard to protect our freedom as our brave soldiers in lands far away.

We need a revitalization of patriotism in this country.

If we don't do something about it right now, there won't be a United States of America in the 22nd Century.

100 years goes by fast. I remember the 1960s like it was yesterday. Time is slipping through our hands.

It's sad to see what it's come to. Our youth is heading in the wrong direction. We must never forget and we must remind those who have forgotten. Its not to late Is It?

I am a Nam Vet. I also work in a VA Hospital. You folks would never believe how much it means to some of these guys to have someone just come to the hospital and visit with the guys for an hour or so. It doesn't have to be an all day visit, and you don't have to have an appointment, or know the Vet. For what we on this forum spend on ammo for a few hours at the range, you can make a Vet's month, with very little effort.

We're not all stupid, just that stupid is louder than smart. The youth of this country are not so different now than then, but mass media makes the stupid louder now than then. Some of can't remember, but we know and we won't forget that.

The statistics are a bit flawed, but yes, my hats off to all (including myself) who have served!

Cold War:

Marine Barracks Bombing 1983, Beruit (I was there)

In the attack on the American barracks, the death toll was 241 American servicemen: 220 Marines, 18 Navy personnel and 3 Army soldiers. Sixty Americans were injured
