I can see where I (or my Wife and I) are getting closer to getting our permits and needing to decide what to carry (we're doing permits, then gun purchase); Since I will need to buy 2 (matching pair is a good possibility) - economy of the weapon is a large factor in what I will be looking at in what we buy. That being said - I wanted to know if anyone has any pratical experience with the Taurus Millenium Pro models? This appears to be the 'most economical' of of the 'full - mid' sized (ie not a .25 or .32 pocket sized) pistols in a non-off brand (are there any such things as 'off brand' pistols? )
I have shot a .40 before and am leaning towards this for myself. My wife has shot before too, (including .44 mag) and hit what she was shooting at. So I think she could probably handle a matched set of .40 S&W in these. (I should mention our hands are very similar in size) . But if she (and/or I) decide the .40 is too much, we are also considering dropping down to the .9mm or the 380 Auto version. (and If she goes 9 or 9 short ... we may get the Gander Exclusizve Stainless & "PINK" framed version for her) ...
I've heard Taurus is making a fine product from several places, but not from anyone who is actually carrying / shooting one on a 'regular' basis; so I am seeking info; oh and we will be trying these (and others) before we settle on what we buy ... (oh and I was thinking the matched set would be nice so we can trade magazines, buy bulk ammo, etc, without worry ... but if not ... oh well)
Thanks for the feedback.

I wrote a review of my PT-111, located at THIS LINK (http://carryconcealed.net/reviews/Is+the+Taurus+PT-111+Millennium+Pro+a+good+CCW+handgun%3F-REV65.html) (back when I used the name "St. Michael". ) Hope that helps! :)

I recently purchased a Taurus PT 24/7 Pro in 9mm. It carries well for me in a IWB. I've put 250 rounds thru it without any problems. Every time pull the trigger it goes bang. I would buy another Taurus

I've owned that same gun for years. I carry a Kimber Ultra Carry II, but the Taurus has shot more than 10,000 rounds without a hiccup. I personally don't care for the long trigger pull of the DAO, and my older version's front sight isn't dovetailed, it's screwed in, and holstering it made it come loose several times before I used some of my wife's nail polish to hold the screw tight. I think they dovetail them now.
Performance wise - flawless.

Thanks Bill, Tanzer, Bat
Sounds like the Taurus Pistols are quite good - which is very good for me. I am guessing (from looks, and reading more than anything) that the milleniums pro's are the 'short barreled' smaller version of the 24/7 pro's: i.e. 3.25" vs 4" barrel and a few less rounds in the magazine?
Also - has anyone shot these in .40 S&W? only asking since the Milleniums are 10 oz lighter than the 24/7's ...
I'd love to look in to the Kimber (probably in .40, but maybe the .45) but with needing 2 at the same time ... plus a pair of holsters ... and probably a carry purse for my wife (she already hunted one of these down that she likes) ... it adds up fast ...

I've carried a stainless PT145 Millennium Pro (.45acp) for almost a year now. Carries very well, almost 1400 rounds through it without a single problem. I can only say good things about these pistols. I also have a PT111 Millennium Pro (9mm) and it has also been as reliable as the PT145.

I own and carry a Tauras PT-1911. It's a fine gun, it even impressed a 1911 "fanboy" of mine. It is reliable it is probably the best "loaded" 1911 for it's money. I would consider buying another tauras.

I have a PT140 Millennium Pro SA/DA and I like it except the trigger pull (both SA and DA is very long...over 1/2 inch). In SA, you can release enough to reset it and that helps but I'd still like a shorter pull.

Thanks Everyone,
I was mainly concerned about reliability and if the Milleniums were at all worth $400 or if i needed to start looking more 'upscale' ...
I am probably leaning towards the SA/DA PT140 ... but before we buy anything ... we'll probably try at least 4 or 5 different models / makes.
Personally, I probably am most drawn to the 1911 SA types ... (and looking for a .40 ... that puts me into a Kimber) but that's 1 gun w/ all the greenstuff I'll have - where as I need a working pair.
I"ll be sure to let you know what we try and what we choose ... and why ...
Thanks again

Bro. Bill,
Don't forget to check out places like gunbroker.com. Sometimes you can find a good deal there and at other auction sites. You still have to ship to your local FFL, unless the person is shipping to you from the same state (IN, in our case), but you may find just the deal you want, too. Good luck, and keep us up to date on what you get! :)

Just ordered this gun for CC. Should be here in two day's. Brand new in the box for $309. I've ready nothing but good things and look forward to carrying it here in Denver.

I had the same questions that you have. I received my permit in Novemeber of last year and had to decide what to carry. While I really like shooting my Rugar GP100 and S&W 659 they are just too big to conceal. I had to decide what was comfortable, concealable and still had some punch. I purchased the Taurus PT111 with a stainless steel slide. After carrying it for several months I feel that it was a reasonable choice. The gun shoots well and hides under a shirt without much of a problem. I did make 1 modification to the gun as I have large hands. I put some antislip tape on the right hand side of the grip. This has helped minimize the jump in my hand due to slide action.
I carry this in a Fobus TAM paddle holster. It seems to do the job well and can be moved around my waist band very easily. Hope my 2 cents worth are worth 2 cents.
