Nevada’s Clark County Shooting Park Under Attack!
Public Meeting to be Held Tomorrow Night!

A group of homeowners who have recently moved into North Las Vegas, just south of the new Clark County Shooting Park, are attempting to stop the range from opening in 2009 by claiming that they were unaware of the range site when they purchased their homes.

Home owners of Carmel Canyon and La Ventina communities have requested a meeting with county officials to voice their opposition to the range. They have invited members of the media in the hopes of stirring up emotion and dissent by claiming the public doesn't support the range, despite the fact that it has been in the planning and construction stages since 2003.

The meeting will be held at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, February 13th at the Aliante Public Library located at 2400 West Deer Springs Road in North Las Vegas (just south of the 215 and the Aliante exit, on the north east corner of Deer Springs and Aliante Parkway).

Please plan to attend this important meeting. It is vital that NRA members and the recreational shooting community attend the meeting and let the homeowners and county officials know that this IS a publicly supported range that will benefit all of Clark County.

It's funny... a friend of mine uses an example along these lines. If you buy a house and fail to check zoning, then find out that a landfill or a pig farm is going in two blocks away and complain, only to find that it's been zoned for that for 30 years, you really have no leg to stand on. Give 'em hell, Nevadans!

Blessings,
B

Kind of like when the dazzling urbanites discover themselves in a rustic setting after buying into the "sub" suburban dream and then cry that *GASP* there are FARMS (and the attending perfumes) just across the street. Caveat Emptor, and keep your uniformed (and far too late) complaints off our land please.

 Of course, there is still a FREE, and whiner-free alternative...

Read my post on this forum regarding the OUTDOOR area easy to get to that you can still shoot FREE and unencumbered. Like God Intended.
Just past Nelson off 93 from Boulder City towards Searchlight/Laughlin.
The kids and I were there last Sunday and it was just like the good old days in the Nevada desert for us target shooters.

An update on the meeting last night. There was no parking anywhere within a block, but it looks like I wouldn't be able to get in anyway.

Good grief. Unbelievable.

I certainly hope pro gunners will band together and spread the truthful word!

It's just the same old story. No matter what anyone wants to do these days, there will be organized opposition. People are so infected with selfish self interest, the "me, me, me" mentality, that they have no concept of community or public responsibility. And, part of that selfishness is the illogical and self righteous attitude that nothing is their fault. They get themselves into situations like this, then expect everyone else to accommodate them. Unfortunately, out political system often encourages this kind of behavior, as politicians cave in to pressure, and count votes instead of thinking of what is true and right.
