Left Right or Both?

This poll seriously needs mor participants. Left and right shooters in equal number. Lefties are about 12% of the population.

Knew a guy years ago that liked shooting over his shoulder, He had this huge diamond ring he would take aim with. And he would hit accurately. I suspect he was really good with straight forward shots. I know the guy was a mobster. Get this! He even wore spats on his shoes and that was 1975.

Went shooting and posted a note about shooting with both hands. I like your poll question because it only seems that Law Enforcement or military practice with both hands it will be fun to see the results of this polling over time. I am guessing that only 10% to 15% of the public practice with both hands. Thanks for getting this one moving.

I'm right handed, but I know that I need to practice more with my 'off' hand, should my right every be injured etc.

I regularly practice shooting, carrying and manipulating my weapons with both hands. I have even qualified a couple of times using my "weak" hand exclusively.

Granted, I am both former Law Enforcement and Military and this was something that was fostered in those environments.

Thanks,

I have a question for you two handed shooters.

When you shoot with your non-dominant hand, do you cross over and sight with your dominant eye, or do you switch eyes too?

Thanks!

George this is an excellent question. I can shoot with both hands due to being ambidextrous, but when I shoot with my left hand I shoot with my right eye. So in that respect I am cross eye dominated.

I answered the poll, as a novice pistol shooter. There for my right hand. I am about getting the basics down. When I become satisfied with my dominant hand, i plan to move on to my non dominant hand, until then lefty has to make do with dry fire drills in the basement. haha. I have trained and shot weak handed in Iraq, cause sometimes you just aren't on the right side of the corner, lol. But at the range, with my pistol I haven't gravatated to that point yet.

I also shoot with both hands, but don't change eyes. My left eye is at least 4" off.

I can shoot with either hand. However when I shoot with my left hand I have to close my right eye. The groups are a lil tighter with the right but if the need were ever to arise , I could do better than just scare them with the left.

Always a good idea to learn to shoot with both hands, in case your strong side gets taken out.

Funny to see this. I just a few weeks ago realized that I couldn't shoot with my left hand. So I went to the range, and tried a cylinder full, just to see. I hit the paper, but that's all I'll say.
I've been doing dry fire drills since using my left hand. Mainly just squeezing the trigger to get used to it (finger isn't even trained yet, and I keep squeezing the pad behind the trigger, nice to know now though).

Its funny how difficult it seems to "fire" more than a couple times with the off hand. Switching back to my dominant hand it sounds like the difference between Jerry Miculek and Jerry Lewis.

***I do not shoot anywhere NEAR Miculek's speed or accuracy, I just thought the two Jerry's were a funny analogy since I can fire much faster with right hand - duh***
