I have an addiction......and I'm not going to apologize. I really luv my wife.

I picked the XD9sc as my new CCW yesterday, and in the spirit of valentines day, she put money down on it. After much consideration and trials/testing out of a few different sub-compacts in the past few weeks, and unfortunately the new PX4sc isn't out yet, the XD9sc won out - hands down over the rest.

I luv my 92FS, but it was just too bulky to conceal since I'm not a fan of IWB holster in general, and the OWB paddle I found/use for it didn't prop it high enough on my waist to sucessfully conceal. I have been using the wife's T380 for actually carrying with no problems. -I found the smaller size of the T380 easier to "relax" with, so I've been searching for a smaller CCW for myself, and to be totally honest - my patience with Beretta and their scheduled "release-date"on the PX4sc..... ran out.

The XD retailed for $599 - $649 depending on the retailer, but we know the owner of the gun shop we mainly use (We've bought most of my other pistols/accessories from him), and shoot at the range with a few of his employees. So he cut us what I feel was a good deal of $525 out the door (or layaway in my case) with all the "extras" the XD comes with.

I'm also seriously considering the Insight X2L rail mount light/laser combo. But then the whole holster issue becomes increasingly more difficult. The X2L is about another $160 bucks, so it's on the back burner for now.

I chose to stay with the 9mm instead of .40S&W or .45ACP for the simple reasons that it's WAY cheaper to shoot and IMHP the right 9mm defensive round is more than enough. - my current choice : Federal HYDRA-SHOCK 135grn JHP.

Needless to say...... I'm very excited and now it's just a waiting game

That all sounds good! How long have you been married? I, too have a wife who is supportive of my shooting activities. She's basically a scaredy cat and wants me armed and well practiced to take care of her. Man, those XDs are hot right now. If were going to change from the 1911, that's the way I'd go.

As far as caliber is concerned, it's shot placement that counts. And, don't forget to keep shooting. One or two shots may not stop the charging bull.

I also traded a 92 for an XD9SC. The XD is a really nice, and you'll find a better trigger, slimmer grips, easier concealment, and still the option of 16 rd magazine. It's very easy to shoot well, and you only have one trigger weight to deal with. I'm extremely happy carrying the XD, I'm sure you'll like it too.

I liked my XD9SC so much I went back and got the XD45 Tactical. They both just feel great in my hands.

Finally got the XD and had a chance to shoot in last Monday. WOW. And that doesn't even sum it up. This gun is fantastic!! :D

I fed 300 rounds of Winchester 115grn FMJ thru it with not 1 misfire-jam-stovepipe'n or anything! And accurate! I was hitting better groupings at 8-10 yards that I have the past 1200+ rounds thru my Beretta 92FS !
I added PEARCE grip extentions to both my 10 round mags and picked up an extra 16 round high cap. too.
I'm very impressed and I took some pics to share.

ENJOY:

The last orange target was my "double tap" experiment at 8yrds w/2 16rnd mags.

And I'm still on the "hunt" for a good OWB holster. I've narrowed it down to 2 : Don Hume H721 OT & Highnoon "Bare Skin" top the list. I'm currently using a Denanti Pocket holster in my coat & the factory XD plastic holster on my hip. - still new to carrying FT ..so....using the XD ver. only around the house till I choose a better holster. I've looked into IWB.....but at 6'05" and 345lbs.......not comfortable. The diet/exercise plan so-far since Oct 07' -35lbs.....aiming for 65 more. Then I'll re-consider.

Oh...VegasGeorge : 12 yrs. The wife has decided she is also going to get her concealed permit and will carry her BERSA T380. We currently have our "date night" at the range every other Fri. And has insisted that at least one of us carry at all times, (mainly me) till she gets more proficient in her shooting abilities. I luv this gal!

I've also decided to keep the Beretta. Out range offers a local ver. of IPSC matchs which I've been interested in trying. I'm waiting till summer to take the plunge, to give me time to get set up for a friend who's helping me start to re-load.
