Legal Transportation of a Firearm in CA

I hold a CCW from Texas. New Mexico and Arizona both honor the Texas CCW.

I am traveling from Texas to California for a wedding. I would like any information on legally transporting my firearm in CA.

I assume unloaded, in a locked container, ammo separate from the firearm. I also understand I cannot bring any High Capacity magazines into CA.

I tried to read the legal garble but couldn't make anything out. Thanks in advance for your help.
