I was reading the news this morning, specifically the articles about Oklahoma, and I had a thought...maybe our cause is making headway. Consider this, we talk a lot about our second ammendment rights being threatened by todays political situation, and current events. But as we say that we see more and more coverage of smart gun laws, open discussion of actually "bearing" arms, and even secession from the US. And it came to me, while the "assualt" weapons ban is looming over our head in November, and we are constantly bombarded by ill advised liberal ideas on gun bans, and control our "army" is giving it back tit for tat. Virginia has just past bills facilitating for Concealed Carry, many states are discussing it's legality in Colleges and lower education systems. And while the media, being what it is, doesn't give it the coverage it deserves, and people aren't coming around as fast as they do in our day dreams it's happening. Everyday the number of licensed individuals carrying firearms is increasing. The stories and facts are on our side, it's hard to argue them. How many of you know the Yale studied published under the title "More Guns, Less Crime" I bet quite a few of you do, I own a copy. Many people are hearing about that study, I might add that while federally, the second ammendment looks like it's under atack on the state levels, it seems as if responsible firearms carry and ownership is being accepted more and more. I just read an article 60,000 licenses being handed out in one state. You know what that means...it means that our numbers are in the millions, we are huge part of the voting population, we are preserving our way of life and the right to defend it. The people of this country won't stand for the removal of it, and I truly believe that the supreme court will rule against DC handgun ban. And everyday I read another ill-advised, poorly substantiated liberal attack on the second ammendment, CC, and gun ownership. But every other day I read an article backed up by facts, and popular vote, enabling the individual to defend themselves, family, friends and even the public. I have a tendency to focus on the negative, my blood boils when I read those gun bashing articles, here about another politician bashing guns, and CC. While I breeze through articles that show our progression. And then this morning I thought, maybe, just maybe we aren't doomed maybe Big Brother is going to learn the easy way what "From my cold dead hands means". We need to focus on the negative, we need to combat the spread of misinformation, the brainwashing conducted by the media, and liberal self serving politicians. But every once in awhile we need to take a moment to catch a wiff of the sweet smell of victory. We are in a political war, but we are winning battles big battles, and maybe our enemies might get a big power boost of leadership this year. But where are their foot soldiers, where are their ditch diggers. They remain blissfully ignorant of the world around them. Existing in a dream world where the Shepard keeps all his sheep safe. But every once in awhile one of the sheep dogs nips ones in the but, wakes him up and magical transformation occurs as the sheep morphs in to a self-enabling, watchfull, and confident sheepdog himself. Our numbers our growing, our victories are numerous and wars are never one with words, but with actions and we ladies and gentlemen are acting. God Bless this Country.

Just thought I'd give us a little pick-me up:)

Thoughts?

Yes, I too sense that the tide is turning in our direction, and that 2nd Amendment rights are re-gaining recognition and respect throughout our country. That could all change with the November elections and the legislation and SCOTUS appointments that most liberals would make. We need to get involved, and see to it that 2nd Amendment supporters are elected to both houses of congress and the presidency.

I saw an interesting map at the Illinois Gun Owners Lobby day. It can be downloaded at www.gunmap.org It shows all the shall issue, and may issue concealed carry states, and "right denied states". Wisconsin law does allow open carry, so that leaves Illinois as the only true right denied state. Though if you wanted to get technical open carry is allowed in rural areas, when not in a vehicle. It also shows locations of massacres in "gun free zones". It lists states that allow open also.

Apparently, the map is incorrect; Montana still requires a permit to CCW.

I'm a firm believer in "popular unrest." If we are going to make progress on this overall 2A issue -- and I agree that we ARE gaining headway -- we are all going to have to sacrifice a little time and effort and keep letting our elected critters and the public at large know where we stand and WHY we stand there.

I believe the future of the Republic is at stake.
