View Full Version : What is the point of blatant lies?

I've been thinking about Hillary's lie about coming under sniper fire and it's really got me puzzled.
Say what you will about her, she is not an idiot. She is wrong in a lot of her beliefs, but I wouldn't call her stupid.

Now, we've all stretched the truth a little: the little brookie trout that we released somehow grew to an 18" rainbow; the gimmie shot at 25 yards on a deer was across a canyon or three; school was harder; basic training was tougher; etc, etc.

The difference is, we know that no one was filming us not catching any fish all day, so what's the harm if we say we caught 3 and released them.

But as First Lady, she KNOWS that she is on film for pretty much the entire 90's. Why would she shoot herself in the foot like this? And it isn't just her, this is just the most blatant one coming out.

Do they not think, or do they think we're too dumb to recognize a lie, or do they finally 'get it' that the majority of the voting population just doesn't care.

I believe there are a lot of factors at work here.

One is her pathetic, almost child-like desire to "be" president. She will do almost anything to that end, and her almost pathological lust for the power of it clouds her judgment at times. She is also driven by a need to be respected, admired, and adulated.

She may have felt that it was so long ago that no one would bother catching her on it. All that bogus detail she provided should have triggered some little warnings in her head, but apparently didn't.

Also, when all is said and done, she and her husband have contempt for the rank-and-file. After all, they are smarter than us and they know better about everything. If it takes a few lies for them to come out on top and in charge, well-- it's worth it.

I find it all quite pathetic, and the thought of such a person as the leader of my country is enough to make me quake in my boots. Fortunately, it ain't gonna happen. Her national political career is all but over, but like the chicken that runs around with no head she doesn't really grasp it yet. Let's just hope she takes that disgusting ward-healer of a husband with her when she goes.

Its a normal thing for the liberals when they want to make a point, stretch the truth, make a possible risky situation into a dramatically dangerous life threatening one. Gets more attention that way. Like Kerry's boat stories. And the liberal gun grabbers always exaggerate statistics concerning gun deaths for children , blood flowing in the streets, etc.
Their main belief I think is "The end justifies the mean" !!!

What I believe is that real liberals such as Hillary Clinton only have a passing acquaintance with the truth. They are so used to framing "facts" in words that accommodate their goals that they begin to lose touch with reality. They are, in essence, living in a phantasy world of their own making. And, they are well aware that other liberals understand, approve, and highly enjoy such embellishments. So, when Hillary was speaking to a friendly crowd of fellow utopian fantasists, she just got carried away. Emotions, after all, are more important to those feather heads than rationality. She made it sound exciting, dangerous, and brave. After all, that fulfills her vision of herself. She probably feels betrayed and insulted that those nasty realist fact checkers had the gall to call her on it. After all, it could have happened that way.
