Well I recieved my cc permit in Jan. and finally used it in Ind. For a man who has spent almost 54 yrs in Ill. to walk into a public place while carrying a concealed pistol for the first time brought several feelings . First and formost was knowing that I was finally able to exercise my 2A rights. Second was wondering when someone was gona start hollering ..man with a gun!!!..hard to get that out of your system..LOL.especially with a park ranger standing behind you at the checkout. another feeling was sadness.....yes sadness... knowing that a state I don't live in is willing to trust me to carry a gun to defend myself when my own state doesn't. Hard to get rid of that feeling that every eye is watching you . Sunday was a wonderful day.. Harold

I glad you had a good experience. I'm sorry about your State. I know how you feel. I love living here in Nevada, but when I drive West a few miles, and cross into California, it feels like I'm going into a foreign country. An unfriendly foreign country. I'm literally on edge for the whole time I'm there, and breath a huge sigh of relief when I finally cross back over that border into the free State of Nevada and home.

Jayspapa,
Congratulations and welcome aboard. Perhpas it is time for you and your fellow Illinoi to get politically involved and change your state legislature & governor. It can be done.

pioneer461....many of us are working on this . I am a relative newcomer. until late last year I didn't know it was possible to get a ccw permit from another state . Am now learning and doing what I can . Most of this states problem is in the Northeast corner where a major portion of the population and all of the politicians are anti-gun . it is very hard to overcome an attitude that has been ingrained for many years. by the way.. thanks for the warm welcome... :D

Don't worry. In a year it'll be like putting on your socks. I seldom think about it unless I have a new holster or belt, but read my new post; Relax.
