Does anyone carry an obsolete or out of production firearm for protection?
Foreign or Domestic? How about strange calibers?

The reason I ask is that I watched a man shoot at a ccw class the other day with a 455 Cal Webley revolver. He was very very good. He reloads hollow points and has carried this revolver for 20 years.

I sometimes carry a .41 Long Colt. The gun was made in 1886 and ammo production ended in 1935. But again being made and sold by Midway for $54 a box. My reason for carrying this sometimes is that under Federal Firearms definitions, it isn't really a gun but an antique weapon. Might get me out on technicality where a gun might be illegal. This was especially so in California.

By the way, I have been in the market for a Webley Fosbury .455 for more than 30 years. It is a semi auto revolver, very unique. Recocks and advances by blowback. It was used by Sean Connery in the movie Zardoz. A very ugly weapon, but that't why I like it. Additionally, it is probably the only revolver on which a silencer would actually work.
