I'm in college right now, and I would carry once I actually finish getting my permit rather than take the class over and over. I just did a debate in my communications class a few weeks ago, and I was amazed at how many people were completely against it, but couldn't tell me why. This is including the team running against me. They had no facts on why it shouldn't happen just that it shouldn't. In the end, I lost the debate becuase so many people were against it in the begining, and it didn't help that my teacher was pushing for the other side openly. I heard about colleges leaning toward the liberal side, not that I think they all do or that everyone in them does, but I ended up in a class that just might be the reason for the stereotype.

The next time you come up against those liberal gun ban featherheads, see if they have a decent explanation for these facts:
1. In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
2. In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
3. Germany established gun control in 1938, and from 1939 to 1945, a total of 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.
4. China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
5. Guatemala established gun control in 1964. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
6. Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
7. Cambodia established gun control in 1956. From 1975 to 1977, one million people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
8. Defenseless people rounded up and exterminated in the 20th Century because of gun control: 56 million. As the old adage goes: “With guns, we are citizens. Without them, we are subjects.”

im in a similar situation as you, cheris. i have also had debates where i currently go to college, and one thing you must keep in mind is that academic "scholars" are usually completely ignorant regarding gun laws and facts. most of them have sat in their rooms studying their entire lives with little to no social life outside of their books. most of them are so hard-headed that you can't even convince them with cold, hard facts (aka liberals). an overwhelming majority of the people there have never seen, held, or shot a gun in their life, so it only makes sense that they will not support the idea of guns on campus. it's not their fault; they just aren't smart enough to make the connection that guns on campus in the hands of ltc holders is actually a good idea.

It's true about most of them never shoting or holding a gun. The group I went against tols me they had never held a gun. One of them told me they had watched someone else shoot "one of those longer guns... the ones that go all the way to your shoulder" as she gestured what I think was the butt of a rifle or shotgun. I even asked her "Do you know if it was a shotgun or rifle?" To which she replied "What are those?".

Isn't it interesting that these people who know absolutely nothing about firearms are trying to tell the rest of us all about them, and more especially, why we shouldn't be allowed to have them? Gee, have you noticed that these are the same people that are telling us all about the global warming crisis, and who are saying we should all drive Priuses, and that incandescent light bulbs are bad? I wonder if they know anything about those subjects?

The total number of students shot on campus from 8-1-1966 to 2-14-08 is 177 according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/School_shooting. 107 of which have been between 3-24-98 and 2-14-08, that means 57% of the school shooting Deaths in the past 42 years have occurred in the last ten years. VA Tech accounted for %18 of all deaths in that time period, on April 16, 2007. You tell me that in modern times, That's NOW for any liberals who come across this, that schools are safe enough that CCW is unecessary.
