Around town I am constantly accosted by these theives who want to sell me a stereo, surround sound system ,etc. . The got it legally, see, and are just trying to get rid of it. I have never been bothered by them more than a "go away I'm not interested". But I'm curious as to what would happen if I was not paying attention, would these guys jump me, is this a tactic to rob me, or are some retards just trying to move stolen property?

I used to see those guys in California. I haven't run into them yet here in Las Vegas. I think they're trying to stay one jump ahead of the law, so I doubt if they pose any threat beyond merely being an annoyance. But, you never know.

If they're obviously not honest....... why trust them?

I wouldn't suggest trusting them at all. They're either selling stolen merchandise, knock offs, or something like that. But, in broad daylight on a busy street corner, I doubt they pose any physical threat to passers by. When I've seen them, they're selling out of the back of a van, and it's parked near a busy foot traffic area where the hawkers can attract some attention.

I've dealt with these guys many times. They are selling junk, but their sales pitch makes some gullible folks think they are getting a really, really good deal. Usually not stolen, just cheap imported junk. Some jurisdictions require business licenses, some don't.
Or, at least that's the case on the Left Coast.
