I spoke with my sheriff yesterday. He indicated the majority of the sheriffs & chiefs desire to come to terms with the BATFE regarding reinstatement of our NICS exemption.
The Exec Dir of the NSCA will correspond with the BATFE and try to determine what (if anything) can be done to reinstate Nevada CCW permit holders' NICS exemption.
Either way, I believe the issue needs to addressed and corrected in the 2009 legislative session.
And we should endeavor to scrap our "POC" status in favor of the toll free (800) telephone NICS check. Paying a $25 fee to exercise one's God given and Constitutionally guaranteed right is simply WRONG.

I ran headfirst into this mess yesterday. I went down to my local gun shop to pick up a gun I'd ordered. The NICS check came back "delay." So, I had to leave the shop empty handed. I have to go back Thursday to pick up my gun. For me, it's just a minor irritation, the embarrassment of having the people in the shop look askance at me, and the time and money it will take to make another trip to the gun store. I have plenty of guns for self defense. But what if I didn't? What if I was frightened for my life, and needed a gun right now? I'd be SOL.
This is really a stupid situation. I've had my CCW for 8 years. I just got revolvers added to my CCW, and received my revised permit in the mail day before yesterday. Now, the stupid computer needs to think on it a few days before OKing me for buying a gun? If VISA opperated like this, it'd be out of business within a month.
