Just to let folks know there is going to be a Second Amendment Freedom Rally in Chicago on July 11 at the James R. Thompson Center at 100 W. Randolph St. from ll am to 1 pm. Dr. Suzanna Gratia Hupp will be the featured speaker.
Time for you Chicago gun owners to come out of your bunkers. I plan on being there and other folks are coming from downstate. You Chicago gun owners definately need to be there.

Anyone else on the forum plan on being there? The Jim Thompson Center is about 1 or 1 1/2 miles from Union Station where Amtrak comes into. Some folks from the Illinoiscarry.com/forum are planning on walking from there, a small "Second Amendment Freedom March" may occur.

Anyone else going to the Second Amendment Freedom Rally in Chicago this friday?
I'll be one of the marshalls there. NO, I don't get to carry a gun, can't even take my Kimber pepper sprayer along. The wimpy town even prohibits knives with blades over 2"

Well I went to the Second Amendment Freedom Rally in Chicago yesterday, someone from Illinoiscarry.com said that 500 to 600 people were there, someone else said they handed out 1500 pieces of literature.
It was from about 11.00 am to 1:45 in the heart of Chicago so a lot of people probably stopped by on their lunch hour. I think at around noon
Suzzana Hupp was speaking recalling the Luby Cafeteria Massacre where her parents were killed and her inabilty to have her handgun with her there. It was a very inspiring speech. We also heard from Vilinda Rowe of Illinois carry, someone from the Second Amendment Sisters, someone from Pink Pistols, and a fellow running for States Attorney for Cook County, and vice president of Illinois State Rifle Association. This was across the street from City Hall so hopefully King Richard saw us all.
There seemed to be a number of medial persons there, unfortunately the Chicago Tribune and Chicago Sun Times don't seem to have reported on it. They do however report when Jesse Jackson shows up at a gun shop with a dozen protesters. When Father Pfleger showed up at the Thompson center to protest 6 public school students (sometimes this means gang bangers of school age)killed he got coverage. The broadcast media did give coverage. It may be as someone speculated that the print media is in Daley's pocket.
It was speculated that the print media was there in case there was some confrontation with the police or maybe anti-gun demonstrators. I didn't see any anti-gun demonstrators and no problems between any of us and police. The print media was probably disapointed, I didn"t even see anyone wearing camo that they could photograph as the typical second amendment demonstrator.
The NRA had a table there and had literature and round stickers saying I AM A BITTER GUN OWNER AND I VOTE! I got some of those. A lot of people help up signs saying Concealed Carry Now! I came with only Illinois State Police approved weaponry a rat tail comb, pencil, pen, and car key. If an ISP trooper had occasion to ask to inspect my pack I was going to show him I had only ISP approved weapons. Somone was handing out tongue depressers to women with a label on they saying they were an ISP approved self defense weapon.
Hopefully the even will be held again next year and more Chicago gun owners will come out of their bunkers, since there was no mass arrest of rally attenders.

MeAgain, Are you from Illinois?
Apparently all the media decided not to report on the Second Amendment Freedom Rally. Someone from Illinoiscarry.com wrote to the Chicago Tribune and Chicago Sun Times about their failure to report on the event.
He received a reply from the Chicago Tribune saying that gun ownership is tangential to the killings in Chicago. However they do send reporters over to DSA on a saturday when they are closed to film a Jesse Jackson protest attended by 20 people. Their bias seems quite blatent.
