Does anyone know how long it takes the Concealed Handgun folks to mail the ID to you after you have been approved to receive it? Seems to take a while?
In Ohio where I'm from, the County Sheriff has a maximum of 45 days to process and notify you about your license unless you haven't lived in Ohio the last 5 years then you are subject to an additional FBI check and a higher fee than the standard $55.00. Now unless you live in Ohio this info doesn't do you much good. You don't show what state you're from in your profile.
Welcome to the forum.
jlc, Ohio

zjimber, It probably depends a lot on your state and possibly even what part of your state you are in. jlc gave you an approximate time for Ohio, I have a non-resident Pa license and these are normally issued in 10 days or less, including snail mail both ways from Illinois, this is going through the Centre County Sheriffs Department. Now I understand that people in Philadelphia sometimes wait months for their license to be received, even though I believe state law requires issuance within 45 days. Sheriff Nau at Centre county is a sheriff who is "citizen carry friendly" and will do everything to get your license issued if you qualify, other sheriffs or non-elected bureaucrats may do everything to stall the process and even require you to do things the state does not mandate, before they issue.
So where you from? Maybe someone from your state can give a better estimate of the issuing time table. Hopefully your state is "shall issue".

Sorry about not giving my state - Texas -
The DPS web site shows my application has been approved and certificate active. However, I still wait for the mail.

Texas is similar to oklahoma from the way i understand it it just depends, if they told you 90 days wait the full 90 days and then complain, I was suppose to receive a letter staiting that my permit is in but did not even to this day never seen it.
I called the sherrifs office and they had it for 20 days or so, which kind of sucked because that is 20 days that i missed out on that i am paying for anyways.
if you have to pick it up call them and see if it is in at about 60 days.

I called the Concealed Handgun Unit of the Depatment of Public Safety yesterday to find out what happened to my license. I was told that it takes 14 days from apporoval to recieve you license in the mail. Kind of funny that the day I was talking to them was the 14th day and I was told to wait a few more.

In Tennessee, where I am, it can take anywhere from 6 weeks up to 3 months. I've never spoken with anyone who had there permit here that it took longer than 3 months.
I'm waiting on mine now, will probably not get till late October as I was told that EVERYONE over 21 was applying right now.

Here in Oklahoma, I had to wait almost 80 days for them to tell me the fingerprint cards weren't of high enough detail. That's also when I found out they have 120 days from the reciept of good cards to process the application, not 120 days from first submission. To ensure it didn't happen again, I went to the OSBI office and had my prints taken digitally. About 5 months after first contact, I got my permit.
