Winnebago CC Resolution Semi-final stage

The Winnebago County Illinois Concealed Carry Resolution is in its semi-final stage. There will be one more sub committee meeting then it goes to the Executive Committe for final approval before going before the Full County Board for a vote.

In the present version all other states or other Illinois County permits would be recognized in Winnebago county.

Hopefully this will be passed before the end of the year.

This is great news! ... Glad to hear things are starting to get 'reasonable' ... at least outside of the chicago area ...

As an offshoot of the Winnebago County Concealed Carry Resolution there will be a ballot referendum question on the November Ballot in Winnebago asking "Shall the General Assembly enact legislation to permit the carrying of concealed firearms?" This question will be on the ballot in about 1/8 of the counties in Illinois.

This referendum question has received a lot of comments on the Illinoiscarry.com forum. Most people don't like the wording, as it doesn't even mention requiring a permit for carrying, background checks or anything. I imagine that it will lose, a similar ballot question in Missouri lost a couple years before they got CCW legislation. Before that question was voted on in Missouri a lot of advertizing was done for it.

As someone on Illinois carry stated "You don't vote on a civil right"!

BTW, For anyone not following the County Pro Second Amendment Resolution. I noticed that I posted on 10/23/07 that 55 counties out of 102 had passed it, now its at 86, less than a year later.
