I am looking for reviews of close proximity easy access gun safes. I have looked at several and am interested in the bio-metric wall vault http://www.wall-vault.com/biometric.html but would like to hear what the crowd has to say. I have a gun safe secure in my basement with lock and key but need to secure my protection in a better location as i know that i can't wait to have run downstairs and also don't like leaving the gun under my underwear in my dresser. Let me know what you all think.

I lost a gun once in a burglary, and vowed to never again lose one. Sure, the insurance replaced it, but it's now in the hands of a felon. I rationalized that because I was a cop, I was somehow immune from crime. Ha, ha, ha!
My primary gun safe is a Sentry, 14 gun unit, with electronic combination and key backup. It is bolted through the floor and sub floor, and into two wall studs.
Features:
14 long gun maximum capacity
Electronic Lock with Lever Handle
Solid steel, pry-resistant 1 1/2" thick door formed from 3 mm plate
3 steel live-locking bolts/3 dead bolts
External hinges
Hardened steel plate protects lock from drill attack
Carpeted interior
Adjustable shelf
Color: Black/brass hardware
Color: Green/brass hardware
Suggested Retail Price: $1,195
ETL verified to manufacturer's fire protection specifications. Up to 1200 degrees F for 30 minutes, interior temperature remains below 350 degrees. Meets California Department of Justice standards for firearm safety.

Plus, a "Stack-On" pistol safe bolted to the top of the rifle safe, with similar features. I didn't pay for this one, it was issued to me by the police dept.with my issue pistol. http://www.stack-on.com/securityplus/personal_and_quick_access_safes/ps-514.html
My first "safe" is an 8 long gun Homak metal cabinet, that cost about a hundred bux. It is not fire resistant and the locks are kind of flimsy. I use it now for parts and ammo storage.

Any safe is better than no safe, but no matter what kind you get, I'd recommend that it be secured to the floor and/or frame.

Thank you for your thorough reply and content. I have a bolted in safe for my rifle, shotgun... in the basement not fire proof at this time but it will come. That is why i wanted to add a bolted safe for my bedroom that could secure just my handgun and like how discreet and out of site this product was. Thank you again for your reply and great in site, i can not imagine what it was like to have your house violated and property stolen.
Thank you for your service to country and community for all those years, god bless.
