Hi all,
The "reputation" system has been activated here. This will allow you to post an "attaboy" (or "attagirl"!) to the poster you think made a good point and whom you'd like to reward.
The same system can be used to mark "down" a post that you think is out of line-for example, if poster Sarah_Brady came on here and posted, "GUИS AЯE BAD, Mmkay?", I think it is fair to say that we would all wish to express our displeasure, but hopefully, we'll not have many opportunities to do that.

Here's how to use the system (or how to "rep" someone):

On their post, click on the little http://apps.carryconcealed.net/forum2/images/buttons/reputation.gif symbol. You'll get a small window offering you the choices of "I approve" (which is "good rep") or "I disapprove" ("bad rep", which could be called RINO or even "Dem" ;) )

I have not tested this, but I believe that to "dem" someone, you must leave a comment explaining why. The comment might just be a ".", but something must be entered.

This system works well on other sites; I see no reason why it cannot do likewise here, giving us a way to not only praise someone but also to reward them for good posts.

(Note that it is considered poor etiquette to either ask for rep or to "trade" rep with others by prearrangement. Nothing will happen to you if you do either of these, but your high numbers will make you a "legend in your own mind". Word to the wise.)

Blessings,
B

Additionally, the "Rep Power" someone has depends on the amount of time they've been on here, their post total, and their own rep total. Someone like ccadmin, who was here from the beginning, would give more reputation points than someone new. Likewise, someone who has a lot to say on here (that's me trying to justify being a babblepuss) will give more rep than someone who posts only occasionally. We're all starting at the same rep total (30), and we all operate on the same rules in that while it is possible to set it so an admin gives 10 or more rep with each click, I have unset that so that ours is no more weighted than anyone else's. There are also included limits to how often one person can rep another, how many posts one must have to have his or her rep "count", etc. These are in place to prevent someone from creating a bunch of new aliases and artificially building their own rep.

Hope this helps!

Blessings,
B

Interesting... Hmm, I think I have a handful of positive reps for your previous posts.

Thanks for all your work around here.
