Best 1911 Manufacturer?

Hey there guys. I'm gonna be getting a 1911 for christmas and need some of your opinions. Which brand is best in the 700-1200 dollar range? (colt, Springfield, Kimber, sig, para-ordnance etc.)

For production 1911s I don't think you can beat Kimber. They are at the top of your price range, however.

I have two series 1 Kimbers, two Sig 1911's, and a Dan Wesson Classic Bobtail. The DW is the tightest of all mentioned, smoothest of all mentioned, better trigger than any, and accuracy is at least as good as all of them. (and that's when I hold up my end of the deal). All five were within $100 of each other, brand new. Get 'em in your hands if you can. Not all 1911-styles feel the same......;)

Para Ordnance has some nice guns and the price isn't to bad. I've got a Carry 9 that I find myself carrying more than my G26.

There are so many gun makers making 1911's, competition among them has benefited the buyers by compelling a high degree of quality. If you stick with one of the major brands, you should be ok.

Both Colt and Kimber are great guns. I currently use a Kimber Ultra Carry as my primary weapon and have absolutely no complaints about it. I think the main thing is to see which fits you most comfortably.

The best advice I can give is to handle each manufacturers guns and see what feels the best in your hands and meets your other requirements as to the looks and overall finish. Also try the triggers. Not all are the same even in the same brand guns.
As pioneer461 said, stay with the major brands and you should be fine.

The question is very subjective....

Springfield, Kimber, Nighthawk, Ed Brown, Wilson Combat... depends on what you want to spend.

I also have a 485.00 Rock Island Armory Tactical that shoots 1 inch groups at 25 yards...
