Maybe houses and cars aren't moving in this depressed economy, but firearms sales are up 8 to 10-percent nationwide, according to state and federal statistics. I just noticed this figure. I guess some are saying the rise in gun sales is due to the recession, but I've gotten the impression that it has more to do with the election. Here is the whole article (http://www.wkyc.com/news/local/news_article.aspx?storyid=99649&catid=3).

And you'd be 110% correct!! Not that any lib would admit that fact even when you point to sales records during a liberal admin or right before they enact some stupid anti constitutional law

The statistic that's missing is what kind of neighborhoods these new gun purchasers live in. If we knew that, it would tell us a lot about why they think they need to buy now.

I would think that firearm sales in low income areas would be up the most, because they will be hurt the most by new restrictions on guns purchases. Higher taxes mean guns will be too expensive for them, and of course restrictions on Saturday Night Specials discriminates specifically against poor people.

It would be interesting to know if black market sales are up too. Since Federal regulations don't effect illegal sales, I'm guessing that black market sales have not risen much.

Do we need more socially responsible Democrats who will fight against this discrimination against poor people. Actually restrictions on the sale of Saturday Night Specials and higher firearm taxes are both racist policies because they make it harder for blacks and Hispanics (higher % in low income compared to whites) to purchase firearms for self defense. This is an issue of civil rights!

Hmm, I wonder if my Democratic Representatives and Senators would listen to this argument? Somehow I doubt it...

I just bumped into this quote in another thread.

President of the Congress of Racial equality Roy Innis: "To make inexpensive guns impossible to get is to say that you're putting a money test on getting a gun. It's racism in its worst form."
