I'm seeing and hearing a lot lately about Pres-elect Obama's choices for his cabinet. Does anyone know what happens when a senator takes a cabinet position after the 4 or 8 years of the president's term? In other words, what happens to Hillary if she takes SecState, once Obama is out of office?

Also, while he's rounding up all the barking moonbats for his inner circle, is this really bad for us? In the case of Mass., if he takes Kerry - and Kennedy either quits / dies, that takes two senior senators out of DC, and puts in two junior senators, so is this a bad thing?

When a senator can't for some reason complete his/her term, the Govenor of the state appoints a replacement who serves until the next general election where upon that person must be elected to the office. This can be for the full 6 year term or just 4 years, depending on what was left of the original term. So if the Gov of a state is liberal, the replacement will just be another lib. IE the ship is STILL sinking no matter the name change

Hillary the Liar could run again after 4 years or if this nation is REALLY STUPID BEYOND WORDS, after 8 years. Without Term Limits on Congress there is nothing stopping it.

However, as screwed up as they will make this nation, I don't think anyone involved with this incoming admin could get elected to clean stys on pig farm by the time they are voted out of office

Yeah, if we lose both our senators, we'll get two libs as replacements from this state. But a young inexperienced lib is a much better option to a seasoned politician like Kerry - to say nothing of the clout wielded by Kennedy. It may not be as grim as it could be.

Yeah he is going to be riped a good one and I for one hope he takes a few more down with him. It has been a GREAT day today . Sad for the state of Illinois , but maybe this will wake up the scum buckets of Illinois poilitics to see their wrongful ways.

I imagine there will be some others going down before the investigation is finished. I hope Chicago Mayor Daley and more democrat legislators are among them, especially the anti-self defense, anti-gun ones in Cook County and the north east corner of Illinois. If we could get a conservative republican governor and a republican majority in the legislature there is a good chance LTC legislation would pass in Illinois.

I heard on the news that Governor Blagojevich's approval rating is at 8% now, down from 13% I believe ,before the arrest. Even democrat legislators didn't like him. He called a number of special sessions this year with no clear agenda and would go back on promises he made to legislators to get their support, such as appropriations on the budget for their district.

Even democrat Mike Madigan Illinois Speaker of the House's office has clashed with Blagojevich. His office produced a memo this year outlining the arguments legislative candidates could make in favor of impeachment. This was before the arrest.

Anyone feel free to post on the topic "Dancing in the Streets" a post I made about the Blagojevich arrest on the Illinois forum here.

It could have been MUCH MUCH worse except that the Chicago paper let it be known to the FBI that no matter what they would no longer sit on the story and were going to publish the next day. Wonder what would have been exposed had the paper NOT blown the investigation by publishing?

Well the Tribune did endorse Barrack Obama, maybe that has something to do with it. Seems the legislature is in unanimous agreement that impeachment proceedings should go forward.

Sad thing is, like most corrupt liberal politicians, if the election was tomorrow he'd probably get re-elected. Is it just me, or is it only the "conservative" (not that you can truly find any real conservatives any longer, but they label the republicans that most of the time) politicians who feel the wrath of the voters?

Tuna, you might want to check out Rep. Mike Pense (R) Indiana. He is a real down to the bone Conservative. What we need is a few million more just like him

I was wishing that Illinois Senator Durbin had suffered the wrath, and been voted out for some of his comments about our soldiers. We had a couple of good gubernatorial candidates in the Illinois primary Brady and Oberweis, Brady was an especially good supporter of LTC unfortunately moderate Judy Baar Topinka, state treasurer got the most votes. She lost to Blagojevich, it seems that she would have probably supported LTC, it is in the Illinois Republican Party platform.

I think people in Illinois often go for names they are familiar with, but there was a Jim Ryan who was running who suffered because of the Governor Ryan license for bribes scandal, though he wasn't related or involved.

We could have had LTC legislation passed a few years ago when Edgar, another moderate Republican, was governor. He vetoed a LTC bill that came to his desk and there weren't enough votes to override it. I understand it was "may issue LTC legislation". We've got quite a few legislators in southern Illinois (south of I64) who support LTC and some introduce LTC bills. Democrats as well as Republicans are for the most part supportive of LTC here. The main problem is Cook County and the N.E. corner of the state. Every year there is a LTC bill submitted that ends up dieing in committee. The democrat who is leader of the house Emil Jones is very anti-gun, he is resigning but his replacement may not be any better. If the Republicans could get control of the legislature and get a conservative elected as governor, this could change. If Chicago became its own state, or southern Illinois succeeded from Illinois we'd probably have LTC in the next session of the legislature.

For right now you need to be a LEO, private investigator, marshal or deputy marshal or alderman, mayor, village president or trustee to carry in Illinois.
