There was dancing in the streets yesterday when news broke that yesterday morning Govrnor Blagojevich was arrested under federal charges.

There is a post on www.IllinoisCarry.com/forum under Illinois Politics titled Gov. Blagojevich Taken into Federal Custody. The posts to the thread are 6 pages long.

The approval rating for the governor before the arrest was at 13%, if I recall correctly.

He was an adversary of LTC and the gun rights of Illinoisans. After the NIU masacre he is said to have told students he didn't think anyone should be allowed to own guns in Illinois.

The judge set bail at $4500 for him on the condition that he surrender his passport and his Firearm Owners ID card. Haven't heard if he is surrendering his firearms as well, maybe his wife has a FOID card.

Blagojevich apparently said to the deputy governor regarding the Illinois U.S. Senate opening that if they "aren't going to offer me anything of value I might as well take it." Sorry governor I think its too late to appoint yourself.

Hopefully he "sings like a bird" and brings down some other corrupt Illinois politicians with him.

I haven't done any due diligence on this, but I heard Rush say that there are currently 3 ex-Governors of Illinois in prison, and if Blagjosdush is convicted that would make 4 of them serving time, at the same time. Gee, what a wonderful breeding ground for politicians!

According to the website www.citizensforethics.org/node/35893 there were 3 Illinois governors that have served time, don't think they are all still in prison, former governor Ryan is. There was some talk that Senator Durbin (D) might ask president Bush to pardon Ryan when he leaves office. Conjecture was this was to set a precident for Obama giving Blagojevich a pardon when/if he was arrested, found guilty and sentanced.

There is an article in the USA Today, today titled Obama Calls For Ill. Gov. to Resign you can go to www.USAToday.com and read it. It mentions among other things his is accused of withholding funding ($8 million) for a childrens hospital until one of its executives wrote him a $50,000 check, and intimidating the Chicago Tribune into firing editorial staff who criticized him.

He at one time was an assistant states attorney for Cook County Illinois. He also vowed to bring ethics back to government when he took office. Who knows this may actually happen when federal prosectutor Fitzgerald is done.

Blagojevich vowed to never sign LTC legislation. To give you an idea how "anti-self defense" he is, a while back a bill called the Homeowners Protection Bill (SB2165) that gave someone breaking a local firearms ordinance an affirmative defense if they were protecting their life or anothers, in ones home. This was after an incident where a resident was charged with violation of a handgun prohibition ordinance after defending himself. Blagojevich's veto was overridden by a 3 to 1 vote and the bill became law.

BTW, I mentioned Blagojevich was "anti-self defense" he isn't apparently completely anti-gun he had a Firearm Owners ID (FOID) card which he surrendered along with his passport as a condition for bail. I don't know what firearms he has or had, I would expect if his wife doesn't have a FOID card they may be confiscated, unless he still gets special treatment.

I came across an interesting quote by Darlene Sanger Illinois Representative for the 96th District "Governor Blagojevich camer into office as a reformer, but his legacy will most likely be someone who took public corruption to unimaginable levels."

The newest rumor is that Illinois is going to change the motto on their license plates from ILLINOIS LAND OF LINCOLN to iLLINOIS - WHERE OUR GOVERNORS MAKE OUR LICENSE PLATES.

I heard that Governor Blagos approval rating is now at 8%, down from 13% before his arrest.
How low will it go? Maybe not too much lower, there is talk of him resigning, impeachment or removal. In a poll, before his arrest, asking people who did a better job former Governor Ryan (serving time) or Blagojevich, Ryan got a slightly higher percentage of the votes.

If he'd take out Daley and the obamination, I'll let him have a cabin on my place free.

I'm not counting on "The Obamination" going down, but Daley would be nice. The Illinois legislature seems to be unananimous about going forward with impeachment. I hope the feds have enough on Blago, they apparently arrested him now because the Chicago Tribune was going to break the story about him selling the senate seat. I guess otherwise they would have waited til he agreed on a price and an attache case of cash arrived at his office.

It's kind of funny about mayor Daly. I know a guy with a similar name as the gun grabber. The funny part is that his wife is a state AG, and has gone on record about open carry making people nervous as "someone being comfortable or not about open carry doesn't factor into a law abiding citizen exercising their rights" - I love that woman!

Mayor Daley's name is spelled with an e in it, is that state AG's name spelled the same? If so what state is she AG of? In the last Illinois primary for governor there was a guy by the name of Brady running. He was a good conservative republican and was on record as supporting LTC legislation in Illinios. I made a comment on the Illinoiscarry.com forum at the time about supporting the Brady Campaign, and got some remarks. Of course I didn't mean the Brady Anti-Gun Campaign.
