I wonder - if there ARE any admin folks left ... would it be advisable, worthwhile or anything ... to send an e-mail to all members, so this once very active and interesting on-line community would wake up.
I am guessing that most of us just figured the forum was dead and never understood what happened. Perhaps a single 'mass e-mail' just to tell eveyone that things are working again would be helpful.
Anyway. Just a Thought.

Hello. I agree that it would be nice to know what is going on. This was a GREAT site and could be again but people need to know it is still around.
I sincerely hope that it will rebound . Without people being notified that it is still in exsistance , I don't know how it will ever rise to it's former glory though.
A mass email would probably work well. I'd like to "see" some of the old faces again.

Well, of the 4 of us that have posted in the last month ... I think we have a definite, if not unanimous response
... any body know how to send a mass e-mail?
(and are you brave enough to do it?) ... ...
if this we congress we'd argue for weeks on it ...
 and still be too chicken ...
I will draft something up over the next day or two (I am at work and swamped here so I can't tale time to figure it out at the moment.) ... unless someone else wants to just send something simple ... in which case I will ...
 and watch and wait ...
LATER ...

Here goes nothing - I just sent a PM to everyone on the member's list with more than 10 posts. Maybe a few of them will get an email letting them know they have a PM - it was great to see some of those names again (Lady Di, Swift Locksmith, VegasGeorge, etc) I hope they come back.
Meanwhile - what have you guys been up to?

I used to stop in a few times per week, but now I only check here once per month (if that often). It would be great to see CC.net forums really take off, but sadly interest appears to be floundering. Not sure why.
This website really has the potential to be a good resource for gun owners of all types, much like the old Packing.org once was. To make that happen though, the website owner really has to keep it frequently updated or folks just won't keep coming back.

I certainly hope the mass email works. Thanks for sending them out Tuna.
Someone has to be trying to do something with the site. For a very long time I couldn't even get the maps to open , let alone the forums . Maybe if a few more people will start posting after they recieve your emails , This site will take off again.
As for what I have been doing .....working with many others at Illinoiscarry.com trying to get a LTC ( license to carry ) passed in this state . Going to be very tough till we get some of the crooked politicions voted out of office. Most of which are in the Northeast corner of the state. I have a LTC from Pa. and one from Utah on the way . I just don't understand how it is that I can safely carry a pistol while in Ind. , Ky , Mo. or even in Ark. and have no troubles . I don't turn into a mass murderer or anything of the such , but when I get to the Illinois state line I have to unload and encase my pistol or I become a felon.
OK... I am done ranting now. Sorry . papa

I just discovered that this forum was up again. It went away, and the site was not being maintained for a long time. I have no idea when the forum started working again, but it seems to me it crashed, so to speak, about two years ago. Anyway, I had invested a whole lot of time and energy in promoting and contributing to this forum and website, and then it went South without anyone telling me squat. I was pretty burned up about it for the longest time. So, what's the story? Is this going to be an active forum again, and is someone going to run the site in a responsible manner? Frankly, I don't want to be associated with any fly by night operation. Unless the owner of the site is seriously committed to keeping it running, I'll invest my efforts elsewhere. Any information will be appreciated.

What we really need here is an "appearance" by the owner of the site with some specific explanations as to (1) what happened, (2) what the immediate plans are for the site, and (3) what the long term goals are for the site. I mean I contacted many local businesses handing out cards for this site, introduced myself as a Moderator on this site, encouraged my friends to become members of this site, and then the damn thing just up and disappears. I'm not going to put myself in that kind of embarrassing situation again without some firm reassurances that its not going to happen again.

Vegas George , I agree 100% . Seems very strange to me that there has been no effort to exsplain what is going on here. Lots of questions with no answers.
By the way , just wanted to say hi to everyone just in case this site goes down again . As a newbie to concealed carry ( being from Illinois ) , I learned a lot from the seasoned carriers on this site.
Yeah, the whole thing was weird the way it quit. I hope it gets active again, I really enjoyed the discussions with some of the folks on here.

I think I was one of the first to notice the site was back up and going a couple months ago but I haven't been on all that much due to constant changes in work shifts and more recently moving into a new place. Plus its hunting season and if I ain't working I'm hunting.
My account was locked for some reason and it finally started working. I don't know if the dozen or so e-mails to the mods helped as I didn't get any reply back. I had put the word out on other sites I go to.

So what's been happening in everyone's state concerning gun laws? Anything new in Nevada, Ma, Sc,In, or Ok?
I think Illinois made some progress this past year when the Illinois Supreme Court upheld the transporting of an unloaded handgun in a car console by someone with a Illinois FOID (Firearm Owners ID) card. The Illinois Sheriff's Association also passed a resolution supporting LTC legislation, and the Illinois Farm Bureau is supporting it as well. A number of bad gun bills were introduced in the legislature, but they went no where. We do however remain a "Right Denied State".

Sorry,
I made the comment about the mass e-mail ... and then you know stuff happened. ... if I get the chance ... I'll still try it. but things have been way busy (which is why I am NOT a moderator ... nor do I want to be.)
And to those of you who've been here. I agree. Somebody needs to Fess up as to what the heck happened.
Vegas and those others of you still active elsewhere ... where are you ... maybe I'll pop into another group if I get the chance ... and know who to look for.

OK. Someone had to get this site back up to where it is now. Who did it ??? Looks like someone who would go to the effort to get it back to this point would let us know what is going on.
Or maybe I just ask to much ... hummmm.
I'm most active at newenglandshooters.com and sometimes I check in at armslocker.com

I've been checking back every once in a while, it seems like the whole site may be up and running again.
Personally I'd still like to know what happened. and think the mass e-mail is a great idea (even if it is my own ... ) unfortunately I haven't had time to do much with the idea.
anyway. I just thought I'd post. I noticed that the site was 'under repair' and the forum disappeared for a while.
Anyone note if any of the "OLD" (ok bad adjective? - former and experienced maybe? ) MODERATOR'S are back ??
It looks like we have 2 'favorable' law's almost passed in Indiana ... now if the INDY mayor would just wise up ...
Not much happening on firearms from for me. I did get to shoot a bit. practice Practice practice. Took my nephew's sons out w/ my .22 rifle ... they did great - and were safe ... or should that be the other order.
Anyway. I'll try to post more and catch up soon.

yes brotherbill... 2010 is going to be a great year for carryconcealed.net. The site is again under new ownership and we are rebuilding our moderator team. Several of the former mods are back and we are working on new content and resources for our shooting community.
Good to have you back and thanks for checking in...
