My daughter is beginning to show signs of using her left hand more dominantly - or at least she may be ambidexterous (SP?).

What are good firearms for a lefty? She's 15 months old, so she won't be CCW for a couple years more.

I've already got a .22 bolt action single shot for her, that was mine. It should be okay for a lefty from the bench - may even be easier for her to load while keeping it on target.

I've also got a break action .22/.410 that should be okay as a second gun, and a SxS 20ga that she can hunt with. I'm looking at getting an Ithaca M37, figuring it would give her firepower with bottom ejection to not mess up her line of sight.

For handguns, I got a deal on a .22 Browning Buckmark because it had left handed grips (talk about luck) so that should be a good start on handguns. After that, I guess Single Actions would be pretty convienent for a lefty.

Anything I'm missing here? Anyone know of guns that work very well for lefties, or at least ambi's? I'd prefer the ambi guns, because that would let me use them until she grows into them.

Anyone got any ideas?

Charter arms makes a snubby for left handers. I owned a snub nose Charter arms back in the early 80's that was very accurate.

I am a 1911 fan so I would recommend any 1911 with ambi safties.

You could go with a Glock ( I don't like the grip angle ) or even SA xd or xdm.

Can't think of any others off top of my pointy head. Good luck

I too am a lefty and have learned to hand right handed wapons with little or no problems. I have a bolt action 8mm that I can roll bolt and fire as fast as a right handed person does and hit my target on the run.

the world is backwards to me but I learned to cope anyway. So will she

This is the truth - firearms are not really the problem its holsters - as she is less than 2 years i suggest getting a ambi pistol and a right side bolt should be fine. most lefties such as bear poop and i get used to it quickly.

Thanks for the replies. I don't really have too much to contribute to this thread right now, but want to start getting used to posting here again.

I really liked this forum, and hope to see it surge again.

Back to my daughter - she's doing real well with the round plastic thing that you put the different shapes in (circle, triangle, square, pentagon, octagon, etc) that I took one of my spare cylinders for a convertible Blackhawk (.45ACP) and a half dozen bullets (FMJs so there was no exposed lead) and gave them to her, and she was able to load the cylinder pretty quickly. I'm happy.
