This may be outdated, but it was illegal to hunt with a .22 rimfire in Arizona. That included rabbits and such small game. Seems they had deemed .22's too dangerous to be fielded. That regulated the .22 as a target weapon only. The law was violated almost without exception with small game though. But I would concur with that .22 ban because of some of my own experience with wild shooting in the field.

Depends on the gun and shooter. I have never had a .22 go "wild" and my Ruger 10/22 is a match grade tack-driver. There are also many Olympic .22 shooters who may also disagree with the "wild" theory.

Shot many many a .22 in my lifetime. I've never had a wild shot from either a rifle or a pistol.

I don't understand this at all. I've used a .22 my entire life. I was raised shooting a .22 rifle, hunting rabbits mostly. I never even heard of any reason, good or bad, to prohibit the use of a .22. The .22 long rifle hollow point is just about perfect for taking small game and varmints. Of course, only an idiot would go deer hunting with a .22. Is that what the Arizona law is about? Preventing idiots from wounding larger game animals? If so, I want to say that I am opposed to such laws. I'd much rather see .22s used by responsible people, and the idiots taken out and shot.

I guess if you're using something OTHER than a .22 you are a careful, responsible citizen, worthy of respect. But if you're using a .22 you are a raving maniac, letting off rounds in every direction, particularly at children and defenseless wimmenz.

Seem obvious, doesn't it?
