I carry $500,000/250,000/$100,000 liability insurance on each of my vehicles.

On my guns, I carry $1 million liability against death injury or destruction.

You carry, you shoot. But are you responsible if you slip up?
Packing iron without insurance is like driving without it.

As a CCW Instructor I need it.

Great point -

Anyone have some tips on Insurance?

Oddly enough, I've never heard of any separate liability coverage for negligent injuries caused by misuse of a firearm. The last time I looked, that wasn't excluded from the standard homeowners liability coverage. Homeowners liability covers everything that is not specifically excluded. I just checked my latest Nevada Homeowners insurance contract, and liability coverage for injuries arising out of firearm use is not excluded. Nor is it excluded in my liability umbrella policy. I'm not sure that I see a problem here.

George, does that apply when the use of your firearm occurs outside your home and property?

Yes. If you negligently pull a chair out from under a fat lady who was just going to sit down at the church social, your homeowners liability coverage is there for you. It's no different with injuries arising in other ways, and your HO liability follows you around wherever you go. I'm speaking, of course, of the standard HO policy I'm familiar with, like the one I have here in Nevada. The last I heard was that the standard coverage was mandated in every State, but I've been out of the law business for several years now. It's possible that things have changed, but I doubt it.

It would be completely politically incorrect if I was to say I'd pull that chair out only for the slapstick humor, so I won't say it.

Seriously, though, thanks for the info. I do appreciate it.

G'night.

Vegas George is correct from my experience. My homeowner policy covers liability as long as there is no criminal intent. My firearm training insurance covers me while in the process of training for my business.

Genghis, What type of policy is your death and destruction policy?
