I spend quite a bit of time at Illinoiscarry.com forum, which is working on getting concealed carry through in one of the only two "right denied" states in the U.S. I used to go to packing.org regularly for information. Someone mentioned this new website, I hope it ends up being as useful and user friendly as packing.org was.
Even though I live in this "right denied" state I do have a non-resident Pennsylvania handgun license so I carry in Missouri, Indiana, and Kentucky when I travel. I believe its good in about 16 states now. I plan to get a Utah permit in the future. I do avail myself of the "6 seconds from safety" option here in Illinois. Illinois law does allow you to carry a firearm in a case unloaded with the ammunition in the same case. Often referred to as "fanny packing", carrying a handgun unloaded with a loaded magazine in the same case. I'll say it before someone else does, yes this may get you arrested in Illinois. It is most likely to get you arrested in Chicago or upstate locations, or maybe anywhere by state troopers. That said I don't believe anyone has been found guilty in court of Unlawful Use of Weapons doing it. I challenged someone on the Illinoiscarry who opposes it to show me a court case where the defendent lost, he has not yet. I've been "fanny packing" for about 2 1/2 years now, never been arrested. Normal disclaimer- I am not a lawyer, your mileage may vary!
