I am a military veteren and I work with many retired and active duty Special Forces and Special Operations military individuals. I have the greatest respect for these people and enjoy working with them on a regular basis.

In the last 6 monthes 2 of the retired Special Forces Soldiers I have worked with since 2001 have taken support positions in Special Forces Groups that have been deployed to Iraq.

Did they have to go? NO! 20 or 30 years of services was not enough? Yes it was enough, but the need is there and they decided to give up the comforts of home and family to go out and do a job that needs to be done.
These quiet professionals will never rest as long as we are in danger.

As Jon said before he left, "We are at war". Enough said!

Wow. I think we sometimes get lulled into thinking that it's a war "over there somewhere on a map" This is a good reminder that we are all involved, even here at home. Did you know that our police department once told me that about 90% ( more or less) of our crimes are solved by individuals that give us a tip on what happened or where to find someone? Each one of us can participate in this war and do our duty even here at home by being aware of our surroundings. When something looks out of place, tell someone. We get over 3000 calls a day to 911. Some are "What time is it?" or "The aliens are trying to come in my back door." But some are "There is a green car parked at the end of the international airport runway, and they are taking pictures and making notes." If we all work together, we all can stay safe. -- you can bet the terrorists are working together. . . .
