I just found this nifty website with an interactive map of the U.S. giving the basic gun law information for each State.
I don't know if it's maintained up to date.

Thanks for trying, George, but it's not up to date.
It still shows Kansas and Nebraska as being non-issue states, and that changed last year, if I recall.
No surprise, considering it's on the site for the Clinton News Network.

I was afraid that would be the case.
It is a cool little JAVA applet (or whatever), and I wish we could have something like it on CarryConcealed. It's a shame that CNN has abandoned it. They're probably diverting all their resources to Global Warming and Hillary's campaign.

I agree. I'd like to see our map include as well the age for a CCW permit, if any, and a spot indicating, if any, any state that the GFSZA does not apply because of state-issued permits. (right now, I think that's only Utah, but I don't know if even they have it for K-12. I thought they did, but now I'm not sure.) Places forbidden to carry would be a good addition, as well as cost and duration of permit, which we already have.
Then again, Stubob also mentioned some cool changes coming up here, so let's see how all that plays out before we overload our already overworked admins with more stuff! :)
Blessings,
M
PS: For any who might occasionally doubt that we're on the winning side of this issue, here is a map that should lift your spirits. It's an animated GIF file, so watch it for about 25 seconds for it to cycle through.

We are working to update the code and get it working - I like the CNN applet, but it is out of date -
We are flexible in how we pull our data, so we can add data points to each state very easy. As we get closer - I will open up test areas for the moderators to tell us if we missed anything so we can help fix.
We are already planning another upgrade in Feb.
We are also checking out chat room software and how easy it is to plug in.
Thanks for everything you guys are doing!! It is our hope that this becomes a great asset to the CCW community. :D
I like the idea (needs a lot more info), but I honestly don't think it is intended for people like us. In doing lots and lots of research (I research on the Internet WAY too much) I have run across many very liberal websites showing how bad the laws are in different states. For example, states like Wyoming with lax gun laws, would get a low score because they are bad people for allowing such lax gun laws. On the other hand a state like Illinois would get a good rating because they have lots of gun laws to "protect" us.
I could be wrong, but I think this is CNN's way of wagging their finger at the states with good gun laws. I want to also point out that I think this is the case because of the limited info they put on the page, the child gun access laws at the top of the page and the sources they cite. The sources are the NRA (good :D ), Handgun Control Inc. (doesn't sound good :( ) and the Center to Prevent Gun Violence (doesn't sound like a pro gun organization  ).
I would like to prevent gun violence too, that's why I carry. :D

I have a finger to wag at CNN also. One on each hand.
Cogito, ergo porto.
