We are looking for the best T-Shirt ideas - There a lot of good gun ones, but we are looking for the best CCW ideas.

Some good T-Shirt ideas submitted were:

"Gun Control - means hitting your target"
"Ted's car has killed more people than my gun"
"Trespassers will be shot, and then shot again"
"Beware of the Owner"

Again looking for CCW type ideas. Any original ideas that are used will get a prize.

How about, "What part of "...shall not be infringed." don't you understand?"
or
"Guns cause crime like matches cause arson." (alternatively: "Guns cause crime like Rosie O'Donnell's fork caused fat.")

" "Gun Control": It's not about guns. It's about control." (and yes, I'd specifically quote the words "Gun Control" whenever they appear in print-Otherwise, we're adopting their terms and that lets them control the argument.)

Good thought! We could call it "Where's Roscoe?" The only problem is that Waldo has that funny hat and glasses. There's nothing obviously different about a man with a CCW. I think you're onto something, though, Jason. It might not work for the shirt, but I bet it would for an online "flash" game that doesn't make any money.

We will run the T-Shirt ideas until October 31st and then vote. We have range type shirts for Moderators and Contributors in the works, and will get the best of slogans for the t-shirts. We will be giving away t-shirts for several different categories.

Keep them rolling - There are some great ones. Thanks to all people who put them out there.

Gun control is like trying to reduce drunk driving by making it tougher for sober people to own cars.

"The beauty of the second amendment is that it will not be needed until they try to take it." -- Thomas Jefferson

Gun control is keeping a steady aim in high wind.

Guns are like tattoos, after the first one you will always want to get another.

Safe sex is wearing your .45 to bed.

You want to threaten my freedom, and you expect me to be nice?

Gunpowder and alcohol DO mix - but it tastes awful.

If you plan to rob someone, would YOU pick a car with an NRA sticker?

There's only one way to deal with sheep-killing dogs, and it's not to put more restrictions on the sheep.

I'm rather surprised no one's posted the always-popular, "Molon Labe!"

OK, I give up. What does that mean?

"Come and take them!"

(Note that the pronunciation is "mo-lone lah-veh")

"Molon labe refers to an ancient Greek expression for "Come and take them!", in reference to unilateral disarmament. Molôn Labé! was the reply of Sparta's King Leonidas to the Persian demand for surrender at the Battle of Thermopylae. The phrase is becoming a modern-day Second Amendment cry of resolve never to disarm in the face of tyranny."

I would be very careful with carrying a gun and wearing clothes with catchy shooting slogans on it.
Sure enough if you have to defend yourself and you wear one of these types of shirts an attorney in a civil suit will turn those words, whatever they may be, into something that spouts out your intent to go and shoot someone.

VegasGeorge
10-16-2007, 08:52 PM
You know, I just hate having to go tippy toeing around to satisfy all the anti gun wusses out there. But, as a retired lawyer, I can tell you that Mike.357 is absolutely correct. If you wound up in court in a shooting case, the Plaintiff's lawyer would have that shirt, or a poster sized picture of that shirt, out where the jury could see it every day of the trial. And, the Plaintiff would twist whatever it said or depicted into the worst possible interpretation to impeach your motives for carrying a gun and for shooting the Plaintiff. It definitely is something to think about.

And, while we're on the subject, chew on this. The Plaintiff's lawyer would probably find out that you are a member of this Forum, and would run a search to find every single post and reply you've made here. Your words could very easily come back to haunt you.

Bill of Rights
10-17-2007, 01:51 AM
No argument that the shirt would be twisted and misused (though how they'd twist my sig-line against me I do not know). We had a poster here briefly who tried to tell me that my "never mind the dog, beware of owner" avatar would be used that way(if it was a sign on my yard or if I was wearing it, presumably.

That brings me to the next point. My computer and it's contents are not germane to the facts of a case. If I've drawn my weapon and used it to ensure that I go home to my family, the simple fact is that I felt threatened, which is what "castle doctrine" and the ill-named "Make my day" laws are about. I should not have to run, I shouldn't have to try to make peace with them or otherwise appease them before doing so; it was recently quoted that if someone is in my house uninvited at 3AM, he isn't there for coffee and to discuss the war in Iraq. Outside of my home, I use situational awareness and good common sense: If I wouldn't go somewhere unarmed, I've no business going there armed, either. So the next question is, if I don't talk about CCDN and my computer's off limits as being irrelevant to the case, how they gonna know what sites I frequent? Not that I'm embarrassed by my posts, and not that I deny some shyster could twist my words, I just don't know how they're going to get here from there, without proving (as opposed to speculating upon) premeditation first.

Cogito, ergo porto.

Blessings,
M

Well, I hope I haven't inadvertently hijacked this thread. It is supposed to be about T-shirts. I suppose that it would be possible to remain anonymous and indiscoverable on a Forum like this. But, I also think that would take careful planning and discipline from the start. In my case, finding out about me would be very simple. All a Plaintiff's lawyer would have to do is send a private investigator out to meet me and pretend to be interested in shooting and CCW. I'd tell her all about this Forum.

I agree Raccoon. I refuse to live in fear over what some slick lawyer "might" do to me for exercising my 1st and 2nd amendment rights. I'll hire a good defense lawyer and put my faith and trust in God and a jury of my peers.

VegasGeorge
10-17-2007, 09:11 AM
Let me be clear. While I agree with what Mike.357 said, I would not let that dissuade me from wearing a T-shirt with a slogan. On the other hand, I wouldn't wear a T-shirt with any slogan that I thought to be confrontational or outrageous. "I support my 2nd Amendment Rights," would be fine. "Kill them all, and let God sort them out!", would not. It's a subjective call, but I would advise you to err on the side of caution. After all, people who don't know you are going to make judgments about our cause based on what they read on your shirt. We need to maintain a respectable presence in the eyes of the community at large.

There are LOTS of good defense lawyers, and then there was OJ's defense team. The only good prosecuting attorney, however, is the one who recognizes that you committed no crime by defending that which is yours.

On that topic, anyone ever consider what we would have heard if either Ron Goldman or Nicole Simpson had been armed and defended themselves?

Overzealous prosecutors like Mike Nifong are the types we should be fearful of. I hope the fact that he was prosecuted and punished has sent a message to rogue prosecutors around the country that political witch hunts will not be tolerated. :x
