Hi folks,
I've been suggesting a glossary for this site for a little bit now, and I decided to just take the bull by the horns and run with it. (Mixed metaphor; don't care.)
Please post those things you think might be helpful to a newbie coming into CCW and this site.
My suggestions would be things like
GAP: Abbreviation for Glock Automatic Pistol, an ammunition size designed for that make of firearm. One must be careful not to confuse .45 GAP and .45 ACP, for example.
ACP: Abbreviation for Automatic Colt Pistol, usually seen with .45 caliber. Take care not to confuse .45 ACP and .45 GAP, for example
Condition 1: Refers specifically to the carry of 1911-style pistols, "cocked and locked", but has been used in reference to other pistols as well.
Condition White: Unaware, unprepared. You must not allow yourself to be in White while armed.
"Ghostbuster sign": The red circle and slash mark across any prohibited item. Usual reference here is to one that has a gun in the center, indicating a place unfriendly to things like the 2nd Amendment, freedom, etc.
They can be serious, they can be funny, but they need to be factual, and they need to be clean.
Thanks for everyone's help. This won't work well if it's only a couple of us putting stuff in.
Cogito, ergo porto.
Blessings,
M
