Can some one give me a good answer on this. If I read the law correctly, it states that Revolvers are not included in the micro stamp legislation.
If so - the sale of Revolvers is going to go through the roof and a black market will emerge in California.
Any one have ideas or correct information on this? Thanks.

Hi Stubob,
IIRC, the new law requires that any new semi-auto sold in CA after X date must be compliant, so that leaves thousands upon thousands from before. My guess is that while the proportion of legally sold handguns that are sold in CA will change re: wheelguns, I think it's just as likely that there will be, as you said, a black market for people to get their firing pins filed down to remove the microstamps, or for aftermarket pins to replace the numbered ones. I don't imagine it will take long for someone to get caught with several unused firing pins, which of course will prompt a law to be passed either that possession of multiple firing pins without an FFL will be a crime or that it will be a crime to replace the pin without re-registering the weapon. If I may paraphrase an old adage:
"O, what a tangled web we create when first we practice to legislate."
Cogito, ergo porto.
Blessings,

Any gun currently on the State approved list will remain there. Only NEW models submitted for testing staring in 2010 will need the stamping. Assuming they have perfected the technology by then.
So few guns are being approved now because of the 2007 magazine disconnect law, it's not really going to impact much anyway.
