These stories just keep piling up, but they should reassure us that we need to protect our RKBA.

Bill of Rights

"I believe I have a right to protect my home and belongings in my home and my family," says Miguez. "You know, this is my property. I'm buying it. I'm paying for it. So I have a right." But, with two similar incidents this week - both justified - will it lead to more homeowners arming themselves to potentially fire upon bad guys who are only trying to steal?

"I don't think everybody ought to be running up and down the street with a gun," says Miguez. "But, if you buy a gun legally and you have a concealed carry permit and you have taken classes, I think you ought to be able to arm yourself to protect yourself and your property."

Well, he's right in the first part, but as has been pointed out here numerous times, nowhere in our fundamental right nor in the Constitution which protects that right is there any commentary about having a permit or taking classes. As for "everybody...up and down the street with a gun", I agree. Everyone shouldn't. Where I disagree with Mr. Miguez is on the point that everyone should be able to, if they so choose, and if you disagree, then the next question is "Who should not be allowed to defend his or her own life?" and the one after that is "What other rights would you then take from some arbitrary group?"

Cogito, ergo porto.
