Easy, Lady Di. They pass a law that says no guns at all are allowed within the borders of Illinois.
After all, it's not like the criminals are going to obey the laws anyway.
Blessings,
M

LadyDi, Illinois gun laws aren't good but they certainly could be worse. We could have some of the things California has- magazine capacity restrictions, needing to keep firearms locked up if someone under 18 is in the house, one gun a month (not sure Ca has it)purchase restrictions, or even needing a permit to buy a handgun, something Missouri required til recently. The whole state could be like Morton Grove and have a ban on handguns.

Being formerly from Illinois, I do feel badly for all the law abiding gun owners there,
When banning all guns fails to work Daley and Jesse will blame freedom states where citizen's rights are recognized for "flooding Chicago streets" with guns. It will never end until we are all either free men and women as our founders wanted us to be, or when we are all subjects to the King.

"No king but King Jesus!" was the battlecry of the Revolution. Check here for details:

Lady Di, According to opencarry.org we aren't in the top 5 states with the worst gun laws. Maybe a little surprising since we are a "right denied" state. We don't however have some things other oppressive anti gun states have. We have no "duty to retreat", no one gun a month, no AWB legislation, no 50 caliber ban, no magazine capacity limits, even allow open carry in rural uninincorporated areas when not in a vehicle, and you can transport an unloaded firearm with loaded magazine in case in your vehicle or on your person with Firearm Owners ID, (FOID) You can also carry a loaded firearm open or concealed in your home or business. The FOID is one requirement that many would consider onerous and some of us here would agree. We certainly aren't an extremely "gun friendly" state but it could be worse, and those like Jackson would like it to be so. Thankfully we have a lot of state legislators outside the Chicago area that stop the oppression from escalating.

Thanks, junglebob, for the info. There's a lot of work to be done at the grassroots level in many states. In Indiana a small group of citizens formed a pro-2nd amendment group and they were successful in their efforts to get legislation passed that gave us an opportunity for lifetime carrying permits here. They also lobbied and were successful in having some restrictive laws repealed. This should be a lesson to all of us. It takes only a handful of individuals to affect real change. Get involved. If your state does not have an organization, start one!

Last March there was a Illinois Gun Owners Lobby Day at the capitol in Springfield about 1000 gun owners showed up. There were folks from Illinois State Rifle Association, Illinois Carry as well as some other organizations I believe. I didn't make it to that one but I want to get to the 2008 one.
