Ok so on 10/26/2007 I purchased my first firearm...A Springfield armory XD-45 ACP, this is the 4'' version. So far I have put around 200 rounds through it, and hope to put around 2000 before the end of this year. It is very similar to a Glock in every way, except it has more safety features, and it comes with, a lock, holster, mag holster, speed loader (this helps keep my thumbs from being so soar at the end of the day, and it also comes with the cleaning rod.
Overall I found it's lifetime warrenty, over all package, reliability, and accuracy irresistable. The overall price of $499 + tax (the same as a glock) also made it easier for me to choose. While some (wink wink Racoon) may call me a traitor for not buying a glock, I say to lets go to the range shoot both and then decide, can you notice a difference in the two? I think not.
The only downside i have found is the holster is only made for right hand draw, but i can flip it around and it works for a lefty such as me, and by flipping it around i can use it with ccw if i am wearing a vest, coat or over shirt.

Yes, that looks like SO much fun! It took me right back to remembering my first shots with my Kimber. Indoor range, and all. I envy you having this nice video. What a keepsake!

I know I'm gonna pay for that. . .
Nice. The Springfield XD's are nice guns. I almost got the 9mm for my main carry, but decided to go a little smaller since I do a lot of deep conceal. Still looking to get one though, I really like the gun.

If you like it, can handle it proficiently, and shoot to 'point of aim', then the XD will be a fine weapon for your CCW needs...
Congrats on the new Springfield, and now shoot/train the heck out of it...
PS: I like the choice of caliber -- load it with Cor-Bon's DPX and you're 'good-to-go' should the need arise...

Yes the XD has a lifetime warranty but you have to send the gun back to Springfield for any repairs because they do not sell parts to anyone. I also thought that the bore axis on the XD was different than the glocks. Anyone know this?

The bore axis is slightly lower on striker systems since they don't have a hammer. That doesn't make them better or worse, just a different beast. The 1911, HK USP, and P220 among others have done quite well for themselves as hammer guns. As have the XD, M&P, Kahr and others in the striker format...
