I'm not sure I would have aimed for the leg. The man was obviously a threat with unknown weapons on his person.

I just hate how the media loves to turn the true victims into the criminals. Would they rather report on the unknown whereabouts of a kidnapped 71 year old woman? Only to find her dead weeks later? I just don't understand it. Haven't we seen enough of that? :x

I agree. There's a reason we train for center mass and head shots. That said, though, you shoot what you can hit. If his leg was the first target visible, it's a disabling shot with potential for stopping the threat.

And to answer your question, yes, that is precisely what the media would like to report, since that's what sells papers and ad time.
