I should have read the URL more closely. I almost expected this to be something worthwhile... of course, had I read, I would have seen it came from the UK. http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd198/St-Michael/silly.gif Silly me.
Cogito, ergo porto.

Are you saying that I posted something that wasn't worthwhile? I'll remember that the next time I cook for you. [Think broccoli.]

I agree that a case from the U.K. is barely relevant to our situations here in the U.S., thank God. Those anti-gun Brits think anyone who is interested in guns is unhealthy and obsessed. I wonder just how bad things will have to get in England before things turn around.

It's good for us to look at the state of affairs in other countries so we can learn a lesson from it. There are many in our country who are pushing us toward becoming like the U.K.

I think the story is relevant to us, thankfully it isn't like that in the vast majority of places. One does come to mind however, and that is Washington D.C. where you can be arrested for having unregistered ammunition. I recall a story of a contractor in D.C. who was from outside D.C. and was stopped for speeding or something. He was asked for his registration and opened the glovebox of his truck to get it, the LEO noticed a box of .22 cartridges. He arrested him for having unregistered ammunition, handcuffed him and took him away. You aren't allowed to have ammunition for any gun you don't have registered in D.C. he didn't live there and therefore didn't have a firearm registered for it. You are expected to have firearms broken down or locked up even in your home I understand. Isn't it interesting that our nations capital has so thoroughly trashed our second ammendment.

I am sure I posted a reply earlier, however, it isn't here now, don't know if it got lost in the server being down for a while earlier.
At any rate, no, the post was worthwhile, just the Brit attitudes are worthless. I recall that the London cops got all in a tizzy when someone found a single round of .22 short ammo in a doorway of a shop there, practically treating it as if the country was being invaded.
Sad and tragic.

Geeze, I thought this story would have something to do with candle light, wine, condums and a shotgun wearing a dress. If those Bobbies ever got a look into my gun room, they'd vapor lock. There's absolutely nothing wrong with having lots of guns.
A scene from the movie "Unforgiven" came to mind.
"Fatty" just finished cleaning and loading Clyde's Remington revolver for him. Clyde has only one arm, and carries 3 pistols. After getting his Remington from Fatty, Clyde unloads and re-loads it.
FATTY SAYS
(sulking)
It was all loaded. Jesus, Clyde,
you got three pistols an' only
one arm for Christ sake.
CLYDE
(to Fatty)
I just don't wanna get killed for
lack of shootin' back.

Makes sense to me. More is better. 8)

It is OK to protect yourself with a baseball bat. You will get on the news, but defend your self with a gun and no body wants to run that story.

Redneck, I think you are correct when it comes to the national media. You will find stories of people defending themselves with a firearm in local papers, just never in the AP articles even if they cover the same event. I recall an article a few years ago about a fellow that used his handgun to kill a fellow that broke into his house during the night and was holding him, his wife and his mother or mother in law hostage. The sheriffs's comment was something like "When someone breaks into your house in the middle of the night, it probably isn't to have coffee with you." This happened in Southern Illinois and was reported in the local paper.
