Well, that's an interesting story. But, I don't think I'd ever want to get involved shooting at someone across the street regardless of the circumstances. Even if the person in the story was just shooting in the air to scare the bad guys off, it doesn't sound like the smart thing to do. What if one of those bad guys has a rifle and shoots back? If you're sitting there across the street with a pistol, taking rifle fire, you're in the same mess as the guy who brought a knife to a gunfight.

I agree. It's more than I'd do, but if it were my store I'd certainly be thankful. :D

I believe it was the late Col. Jeff Cooper who said something on the order of, "You use your pistol to get back to the rifle or shotgun you should never have put down in the first place."

A wise man he was. I doubt we shall see his like again.

Blessings,

I don't know who said it, but the way I heard it was; "A pistol is what I use to fight my way back to my gun."

I still do not think I would shoot accross the street. As CCW permit holders we are not Law Enforcement Officers. Unless my family, or someone I am standing with is in "Imeadiate" danager I do not want to face the glory hound DA's that want to prosectue people.

I agree with Lady Di - that the store owner was probably happy.

Good post with something to think about.
