I thought it was good thinking by the police officers for shooting out the security lights to put the BG's off guard.

Well, it's good that the police shot out the lights. But I really doubt that they did it "so the invaders wouldn't be able to see well enough to escape." That sounds pretty silly to me. They did it so that they wouldn't be standing around under the lights while gunmen inside the house were shooting at them.
Great story, and a happy ending. I love it!

You'd make a good news reporter, VG. Have you ever thought about it? :D

Several weeks ago my wife and I were laying bed talking around 10 PM.
Our guests had left a few minutes before we retired. I heard the front door creaking and I realized that I may not have locked the door. I got up and retrieved my revolver from closet shelf. I quietly walked into hallway and there was an intruder standing in the kitchen. I pointed the laser at his chest and demanded that he get down on the floor. He immediately turned and ran for and then out the front door (about 10 steps) behind him. I was relieved to see him flee. The young intruder was caught later that nite trying to get into another home. He was looking for prescription drugs.
I have a CCW permit and I carry every day. My wife is now considering the training so that she can carry.

Thanks for shareing! Besides getting your wife to get her CCW, go practice with her!!!
Great job, and it shows that a laser can get you out of trouble. Thank you again for sharing!
has this been published in a news paper? If not it would be cool to write a short story about it an post in in the main section. We can leave names out if you would like.

People often ask me why I have a laser site in my Glock, since I'm an accurate close-quarter's shot anyway, and the gun is purely for self defense and home defense.
My answer is always "Intimidation" ...
When people see that red dot, they get scared. I'd rather *scare* someone into submission then actually have to shoot them.

Lildobe,
May I respectfully suggest that you change that answer?
Intimidation is a crime in most places, and it will likely sound much better (and be less actionable) if you say, "Education. When someone sees that red dot in the middle of their chest or forehead, they tend to get REAL smart. I'd much prefer to educate them than punch holes in them."
IANAL and TINLA disclaimers apply, and besides, I think the point will be the same.

Heh, true... I never thought of it that way - though the only time that gun will get pointed at another person is in a defense situation - but I can see where you are coming from...
Though "intimidation" is also the reason for the Mossberg 500A that sits beside my bed... I hardly think that the massive 12ga barrel pointed at someone can be called "education"! :D :D :D
