Got this one in my E-Mail today... thought it was appropriate :D

FACTS TO PONDER :

(A) The number of physicians in the U.S. is 700,000.
(B) Accidental deaths caused by Physicians per year are 120,000.
(Calculation) Accidental deaths per physician is 0.171

Now think about this:

Guns:
(A) The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000. (Yes, that's 80 million..)
(B) The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, is 1,500.
(Calculation) The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is 0.00018

So, statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.
Remember, "Guns don't kill people, doctors do."

FACT: NOT EVERYONE HAS A GUN, BUT ALMOST EVERYONE HAS AT LEAST ONE DOCTOR.

lawyers for fear the shock would cause people to panic and seek medical

I've seen similar before, but thank you for posting it for those who haven't, lildobe. Curiosity: Does anyone know the source year of the data, so we can get updated info? (and if this is the most recent, so that we can get updated info next year? :)

I don't know what year those statistics are from, but they are close to the ones I've read the various research I've done to put the smack-down on anti-gun lefties who seem to be all over my Livejournal :D

I'll do some poking around after class today and see what I can come up with.

Isn't it interesting that most of us express ideas as "I think...." and the lefties usually start similar concepts with "I feel...."?

Yeah, that's one of my favorite sites for data and info to toss at them :D

I tend to use it a lot, and keep a copy of the PDF file on my PDA so I can reference it quick when I'm not home.
