How about a section for personal reviews. so that each member can show off their stuff and write something up on their favorites the personal reviews could have also have a comments section as well if the review goes well it could have official reviews from the CC.net admins

If I understand you correctly, you are proposing a Member biography type section. Sort of a "who am I, and what am I interested in these days" review. Is that it?

Actually, I have no objection to that kind of thing. It would be interesting to learn a little more about fellow board members. But, it's not a priority for me, and I have a notion that some of our members might think it to be too far afield from our CCW oriented mission here. We'll see what others say.

George,
As that would be a interesting add on I do agree it would separate from the mission statement. What I am proposing is more of a here is what i own + pics and or videos, and here is what i think of it for example....

"Ok so on 10/26/2007 I purchased my first firearm...A Springfield armory XD-45 ACP, this is the 4'' version. So far I have put around 200 rounds through it, and hope to put around 2000 before the end of this year. It is very similar to a Glock in every way, except it has more safety features, and it comes with, a lock, holster, mag holster, speed loader (this helps keep my thumbs from being so soar at the end of the day, and it also comes with the cleaning rod.

Overall I found it's lifetime warrenty, over all package, reliability, and accuracy irresistable. The overall price of $499 + tax (the same as a glock) also made it easier for me to choose. While some (wink wink Racoon) may call me a traitor for not buying a glock, I say to lets go to the range shoot both and then decide, can you notice a difference in the two? I think not.

The only downside i have found is the holster is only made for right hand draw, but i can flip it around and it works for a lefty such as me, and by flipping it around i can use it with ccw if i am wearing a vest, coat or over shirt."

I think we can put this to a vote to the moderators -

Also on a side note -Practice shooting right handed. I am a left handed left eye dominant nut that shoots pistols right handed. I also carry left handed and practice equally with both hands.

I like the suggestion but also want to see what the others think. :)

OK, I get it. That sort of thing is fairly well oriented toward our mission here. I have no problem at all with the concept as per your example. I'd vote "Yes" for giving it a try. After all, if it doesn't work out for any reason, the section can always be deleted later.

I can see the point of what you want to do and it seems like a fairly good idea. For someone like myself, when we start getting into what we have the list can get long very fast.
Staying with the mission, and focusing on the issue of CCW's, type and calibers of firearms personally carried, type of additional equipment carried, types of holsters, even the type of ammo being used. Maybe even adding anything current laws in your area would be a possible good addition.

We will try a section for Carryconcealed.net members to post reviews on products and let us know what they are shooting and how it works with CCW.

Thanks for the suggestions. We will see how it goes.

If the CCW community wants topics or areas we are wanting to help get the right topics or areas to help. Thanks.

On both boards I moderate, I make a point of 'suggesting' that members do not mention what they may or may not own. While it's all well and good to sing the praises of a favorite sidearm, you don't know who else is reading, or why.

Not everyone you meet online is who he claims to be, and your 'personal information' is more available than you think. Coming home to a burned-out house and empty safe is a possibility, as is being 'taken down' from behind and your carry piece turning up at a murder scene next week. Having some Brady-paranoid parent of your kid's best friend finding out you're a 'gun nut' and there are eeeeeeevil guns in the house the kids play in isn't going to make the child's day - or yours - fun. Enumerating all the firearms you obtained from private sellers without the tracking paperwork so beloved of the 'authorities' only insures 'the wrong people' know where they are.

Early on, someone coined the phrase "On the internet, nobody knows you're a dog." By the same token, nobody knows if you're a violent felon, nobody knows if you're Upchuck Schumer or the Hildebeast bent on making BaaBaa Boxer the next bureau chief of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, Explosives, Incendiaries and Electrically Ignited Ordnance (hereinafter B.A.T.F.E.I.E.I.O.), listing armed 'enemies of the State' to be detained - or at least disarmed.

Much as we may like the 'arms' we may or may not own, unless you know and trust everyone who may read your 'review', publicly 'advertising' ownership of a firearm (or multiple firearms) may not be in one's 'best interests'. This is not a perfect world, this is not a good idea.
