Finally we get some support and legal backing. MO adopted the Castle Doctrine this past year and it went into affect in Sept. I, for one, am SO glad MO had the brains to do this. It protects the gun owner and truly gives them the ability to defend themselves.
I just hope that people can see the good in good people protecting themselves and I hope that it makes criminals think twice. I would hate to actually have to shoot someone, but I have had lots of training with guns and could and would do it in a second if seriously threatened.
I've heard the media report the Castle Doctrine as the "shoot first" bill. They were talking about the state of FL and that people had to be real careful in that state because people shoot first and ask questions later. This makes me so mad!!! It makes it sound like when you cross the border into FL you will see people running around like Yosemite Sam shooting guns into the air everywhere. This is simply not true and completely misleading. I've been to FL and it is a beautiful state with people smart enough to know that they need to be able to defend themselves.
I hope to see more states accept the Castle Doctrine in the future. It can only help us in the long run.

Hamm said the laws trivialize human life.
"Do we want to kill every 16-year-old kid we find stealing a car stereo?" he said.
Well, Mr. Hamm, the short answer is "Yes."
There are, of course, circumstances where the armed home or car owner may feel safe enough to forgo shooting, while preventing the theft at the same time. Those circumstance, however, are something to be left to the individual discretion of the armed owner. Only he or she can judge the apparent safety of the situation.
In other words, Mr. Hamm, I would rather see a dead 16 year old thief, than an innocent car stereo owner having to dodge a thrown screwdriver, or taking any chances in the dark.

I agree with you on this VagasGeorge, but I'll take it a step further. I would rather see a dead 16 year old thief, than a dead innocent person later on in that thief's life. Come on now.... Let's be honest. If he's stealing stereos at 16, does anyone really think his is just going to get better? It is possible, but that's not usually how it goes. Usually things get worse.... much worse before they get better. That 16 year old thief may get into drugs, robbery, armed robbery, rape, murder or any other of numerous crimes that can hurt or kill someone. I'll tell you what though, if he makes it out of the stereo stealing encounter against a CCW holder, he will remember that forever and could be a good changing point for him. If he doesn't make it out of there alive..... well....... he won't be hurting anyone anymore.
Sometimes I get so mad!!!! :x I just want to scream it from the highest mountain....... STOP MAKING VICTIMS OUT OF THE CRIMINALS!!!!!! If a 16 year old gets shot and killed for stealing a stereo, it's his own stupid fault!! The truth is he should not have been stealing and he would not have been shot.
