I've written, but not yet posted my letters, one to each of my Senators and just to hedge my bets, one to GWB, too.
One phrase that I included that I want to repeat here is:
I am not a veteran, however I know that there are veterans' groups who actively oppose the bill not for what it is supposed to do but for it's potential for misuse once passed. They've fought for our country already; they should not have to fight against the Congress (or the President) for their rights, nor should any of us.
As Lady Di did, I urge all of you to contact your Senators, not tomorrow but right now.
"Gun control is not about guns. It's about control."
Cogito, ergo porto.
Blessings,

You're a good citizen, St. Michael. I've been told that a dozen letters and/or phone calls to a legislator will definitely get his/her attention. It's definitely not a waste of our time to make our voices heard.

Thank you, Lady Di.
Unfortunately, you and I have the same Senators, a jackass and a RINO.
Still, maybe they'll pay attention if they hear from enough of us.
Anyone else from IN? My letters are sent. I'm sure that if Lady Di's are not already, they will be very soon. Now it's your turn!
I'm St. Michael, and I approve this message.
Blessings,
M

St. Michael, I've got two jackass senators, one who is running for president and the other compares our troops to Nazis.
I see by the artilce that the NRA supports the bill.
I take it that there will be a senate version of the bill. What was the house bill number?

Frankly, I prefer to listen to what the NRA has to say about pending legislation, rather than take the word of some journalist that I don't know.
The NRA's position is real clear. See this article which is linked from the NRA's website: http://www.military.com/opinion/0,15202,151321_1,00.html?wh=wh
I'm a member of the NRA, and I send them money to support their work. I think I'll stick with my investment and accept the NRA's position in this matter.

I'm an NRA member as well. From what you posted it doesn't seem like described by the journalist. I'd like to read the text of the bill myself, if it isn't 500 pages.

My main problem with the current law is that we should not have to fight to get back rights that aren't correctly within the purview of government to take away (BTW, that's all of them.)
Once again, if they have the power to put you on a list that says you can't legally buy a gun, they have the power to put you on a list that says you can't go to church, can't speak your mind, print what you want, plead the Fifth, etc., etc.
I do not and will not support any infringements at all.
Blessings,
M
