I saw this on another forum. Someone received a flyer from State Representative Brandon Phelps on his support of the second ammendment. He is in southern Illinois, from Harrisburg. Now a state rep saying he supports the second ammendment is nothing new, I expect some antis from Chicago will even make that claim. They however assume the second ammendment is about duck and deer hunting.

Brandon Phelps has introduced concealed carry bills and his flyer says-
Illinois is one of 2 states in the country that does not allow its residents to carry concealed firearms in some regulated manner in order to protect themselves and thier families. Rep. Phelps is working to change that by sponsoring legislation , House Bill 1304 that allows the state to issue concealed firearm permits to qualified and lawful gun owners. Pending in the house.

Now for those who are saying "Illinois will get concealed carry after communters are packing on the trains in Tokyo!" Did you know when Edgar was governor and the republicans controlled both state houses a concealed carry bill went to his desk for his signature. It was 1993, I believe. Unfortunately he was an anti-carry republican governor and vetoed it. We had our chance to be a trend setter like the state of Florida, now we can follow 48 other states.

I think it bears saying, so I'll say it: JB, I know I rag on IL a fair amount, as do many of us. I can't be certain, but I'd guess most are of the same mind I am: We're as upset as you are that the IL legislators and governor (goober-nor?) think that the US Constitution doesn't apply to them. It is they, and not the good citizens who deserve your (and our!) ire.

I just thought I should throw that out there. Be well, and good luck with Mr. Phelps' bill.

Blessings,
M
