Hopefully politicians will see the correlation between lost elections and gun control measures.

I'm not familiar with Virginia politics, but this sounds almost backwards to me. Is this a case of a gun rights advocate Democrat defeating a gun control advocate Republican? If so, how does this gun rights advocate Democrat get along in his party? He must be anathema to most of his fellow Democrats.

I don't know about VA politics generally, but I do recall discussion on PDO in re: Jim Webb running last go-'round over a pro-gun Republican. Webb, you'll recall, was the owner of the handgun one of his aides got arrested for carrying in to Mr. Webb's office at his request, and for which the aide was all over the news. Several days later, Mr. Webb finally admitted it was his gun, but in that time, proceedings moved forward against his aide, as I remember it.

Pity they didn't elect someone who would be proud to claim that the gun was his and indeed, would likely have had it on him. On reflection, however, someone that stand-up in Washington is probably about as rare as frog's hair.

Blessings,
M
