I'm really sick of reading about 15 year old burglars being shot dead.
I want to start a movement for dragging the parents of those 15 year olds out in the street and shooting them dead too.
Who wants to sign up?

That might be a bit drastic for this case :) , but I understand your frustration and agree with it. I'm all for parents getting the same charges as their underage children. If the underage child was charged with murder and aggravated assault, then the parents should be charged with the same. These parents need to take responsibility for what they have done in raising their children.

There are some cases in which the parents do all they can and the kid still goes bad. Some are bad to begin with.
A long time ago, I didn't agree with spanking kids, didn't think that firm discipline, and by that I mean a firm hand applied where such things are usually applied in a disciplinary fashion, was necessary, but rather that one could use enough of a smack on the bottom to get the kid's attention, then reason with them once they'd reached a point when they could understand simple speech.
Stop laughing.
I was mistaken about that, needless to say, and being a parent changed my thought process. There's a good reason that the Lord padded that region of the body, and it isn't just to make sitting on hard church pews easier. I don't, obviously, support abusing children, and there is a line one does not cross-discipline comes from the same root as "disciple", meaning one who learns. Children need to be taught, and they need to take the lessons they're taught to heart, and if the only way to get to the bottom of their hearts is to approach through the heart of their bottoms, then so be it.
All that said, proper, firm discipline notwithstanding, some kids will rebel hard and will still cause problems. The saddest part is that in many cases, George's plan won't work for no other reason than that when you catch many of the 15 year old fill-in-the-blank criminals, you won't be able to drag the parents into the street to shoot them, because either they're already dead due to their own crimes or just are absent from the kid's life in general.
Blessings,
M
